Their new Red Sole line of sneakers have a classic design, but are built with bikers in mind.  They are made of Cordura and feature a Texon board [...]

Insect Repellent Hat

by Julie on April 4, 2009 · 7 comments

The Insect Repellent Hat from Hammacher Schelmmer has an odorless EPA-registered repellent permethrin bonded into the fabric. I know this isn’t really a gadget, but it can definitely be useful to any gadget lovin geek who happens to live in an area with insects that they want to repell. From their head. I’m just sayin.

I always look forward to new products from SCOTTeVEST and was happy to find 2 new garments in my mailbox the other day. Scott and Laura Jordan sent me their new Performance Polo and Performance Pullover 1/4 Zip shirts. Let’s take a closer look…

A year ago, when I reviewed the SCOTTeVEST SeV T-Shirt, there were quite a few people that immediately saw how great a Personal Area Network (PAN) enabled t-shirt such as this could be for their workouts, but there was one caveat – the first generation shirt was made of 100% heavy cotton. While a heavy [...]

Updated on 02/20/07. See updates at bottom of review in Red… SCOTTeVEST has been the king of high tech gadget clothing for several years now. We should know, here at The Gadgeteer, we’ve reviewed almost every product they’ve put on the market. But now there’s a new kid on the block: Kenpo of Los Angeles, [...]

My favorite style of pants, next to blue jeans, is cargo pants. One of the things that I like best about cargos – beyond the fact that they are usually cut with comfort in mind -is that they always have lots of pockets. Whether I am scrambling through the ruins at Mesa Verde, hiking at [...]

Can you think of a single article of clothing that has permeated pop culture as thoroughly as the humble hoodie? According to the Ask Andy About Clothes website, this is how the hoodie got its start: "Brothers, Abe and Bill Feinbloom, founded the Knickerbocker Knitting Company, now Champion Products in 1919. It was a sweater [...]

SCOTTeVEST Rodeo Jacket

Judie just recently reviewed the Milan leather jacket from SCOTTeVEST. This is a very nice update to their Version 3.0 Limited Edition Leather Jacket that I reviewed 2 years ago. It’s very nice, but also VERY expensive. What’s a gadgeteer to do when they really want a leather SCOTTeVEST jacket, but don’t quite have the [...]

There are times when it pays to be a master of subtlety about how one’s gadgets are transported; times when a briefcase is too much, cargo pants are too casual and obvious logos would be out of place. For those times when an understated way to transport or conceal devices is needed, there is the [...]

It’s been almost two years since Julie reviewed Scott Jordan‘s first venture into the world of luxury leather outerwear, the SeV Three.0 Limited Edition Leather Jacket. That black Napa interpretation of his popular 3.0 jacket was a major upgrade from the usual microfiber, polar fleece and cotton blend staples from the SCOTTeVEST line that we [...]

Even though the calendar says that October is almost here, San Angelo managed to hit 107º yesterday – our hottest day on record – beating 105º  for the same date in 1977. For people that live in a West Texas frying pan such as my town, it is simply too darn hot to go around [...]

How many of you wear your college warm-ups on the weekends? Mmmm hmmmm, and how many of you graduated more than 10 years ago? Yeah, that’s what I thought. Maybe it’s time to think about ditching those threadbare sweats and trying on a pair of lounge pants. Now before you start getting visions of Hugh [...]

SCOTTeVEST Sport TEC Jacket

by Julie on August 11, 2005 · 13 comments

Next month (September) it will have been 4 years since my very first SCOTTeVEST product review. I don’t think I’m wrong in saying that since that first review, not a season has gone by that I haven’t worn at least one SCOTTeVEST garment at one time or another. My two favorite jackets have been the [...]

SCOTTeVEST TEC Hat

by Judie Lipsett on August 2, 2005 · 3 comments

Last summer I reviewed the first version TEC Hat by SCOTTeVEST, and while I really liked the idea of a hat with a hidden compartment and Personal Area Network (PAN), the TEC Hat just didn’t work for me because it was too small – in fact it fit me like a beanie. This summer, Scott [...]

As our temperature gauge has consistently pushed the high 90s and low 100s this summer, I have certainly done my share of wishing for cooler fall days – for sweater weather. I am sure I’m not the only one that is ready for the type of day when it is not cold enough for a [...]

Whether I am at the ranch or working from home, in warmer weather you can just about always find me wearing a t-shirt with a favorite pair of jeans. While I generally prefer to buy the more fitted women’s style t-shirts, there are more than a few men’s Ts in my collection. I don’t necessarily [...]

SCOTTeVEST Classic Vest Review

by Julie on November 4, 2004 · 7 comments

Everything old is new again. Case in point: The SCOTTeVEST Classic Vest. It has been over 3 years since my first review of a SCOTTeVEST product. That review was of the original eVest. Since then, we’ve reviewed several jackets, a leather coat, pants and even a hat. Now we’re back with a review of their [...]
