I love listening to my 2nd generation Apple iPod Nano, but the earbud cables always seem to get in my way. So far I’ve only had the opportunity to review one wireless headphone solution for the iPod: Bluetake’s i-PHONO mini BT450Tx. Unfortunately, I didn’t really like it all that much and to date I am still using wired phones. Then this past January, I was able to a demo Etymotic Research’s ety8 Bluetooth earphones at CES. Their products aren’t new to The Gadgeteer, we’ve reviewed several over the years. I quickly asked if I could review the ety8 earphones. They said yes and here is the review.

I think most of us will agree that using handsfree solutions for talking on our mobile phones is much more convenient than not using a handsfree solution. Especially while driving. Fumbling with a phone when you are supposed to be focusing on the road is dangerous to you and others. But for one reason or another, not all of us like using Bluetooth headsets to remedy this problem. Now there is another solution to consider. Tekkeon’s ET6000 ezSpeak Handsfree Bluetooth Speakerphone can be clipped on your car’s sun visor, or used it in the office to make and receive calls with your Bluetooth enabled phone.

Ever since my review last year, my favorite Bluetooth headset has been Cardo Systems scala-500. This inexpensive headset is light weight, comfortable and easy to use. It’s not flashy like a lot of the latest headsets, but it gets the job done without making you sound like you are standing at the bottom of a well. Now Cardo Systems has a new headset: the scala-700. Let’s check it out.

Since when does the package need to resemble what is inside? I for one wouldn’t like fish-shaped sushi or a cow-shaped hamburger. So why do electronics cases have to be the same shape as the gadgets they protect? So when I saw that Speck made a toroid-shaped case for the Gen 2 iPod Shuffle, I thought it might be fun to give it a try.

Iβm happy to report that The Gadgeteer was successfully moved to its new server early this morning. The main issue that people might still run into is if they try to post in the forums. Until the various nameservers all over the internets have been updated, you may hit the forums on the old server.

This is just a heads up that The Gadgeteer is in the process of moving to its very own server. No more sharing with other sites like we have been for years and years. What does this mean to all of you? Well hopefully better performance, and stability! :o) Keep me posted if you notice

Last Spring, I had the opportunity to review the MV-5000U Multimedia Player from Mvix. Except for a couple issues like a noisy fan and no networking features, I really liked this device. It is one year later and we now have the MX-760HD. This unit addresses all of the complaints that I had with the first generation device and goes even further to add a few major enhancements.

I’m a bit of an odd-ball. I prefer Dr Pepper over colas. I prefer ‘Mythbusters‘ or ‘Good Eats‘ to ‘Survivor’ or ‘Desperate Housewives’. I even kinda like mini-vans and don’t like iPods so much. Worse, I prefer dice games to card games [hanging my head in shame]. I’ve always enjoyed a category of dice game called ‘10,000‘- although it has many other names, like ‘Cosmic Wimpout’.

Iβve come to the conclusion that I wonβt be buying an AppleTV for my own personal use. I may still buy one at some point to review if people keep asking me, but right now, here are the 5 reasons why I donβt want oneβ¦ 1. I already have an MVIXUSA MX-760HD wireless media center.

Iβve been playing around with the Blackberry Pearl that I received yesterday. It has a slick interface (once you get used to the little track ball navigation method) that is growing on me. But hereβs the thing that has me a bit peeved. I think I have to pay extra to use the data features.

Iβm home from work today, feeling crummyβ¦ Itβs no fun feeling yucky when itβs a pretty Spring (almost Spring) day outside and youβre stuck inside. I guess being home isnβt all bad though as it seems that the gadget deities decided to take pity on me. I have been visited by both Fedex and DHL

“Don’t worry honey, I just fed the dog for today”
“Um.. I already fed the dog two hours ago!”
This type of conversation is a common one in my household. From feeding the dog to cleaning out the fridge, it can be complicated to keep track of it all. When I saw the DaysAgo timer, I knew that I had try one as soon as possible, so that we could stave off potential canine obesity in my household.
