Miranda S-250 Travel Guitar

From an early age, I wanted to learn to play the guitar. I took a few lessons here and there through the years, but for the most part taught myself from books and tapes. I never was a very good player, but that hasn’t stopped my love of the instrument and music. I’ve had several guitars, from electric to acoustic, to even a mini electric that I built myself using a kit. I even had a dial up BBS back in the day completely devoted to TAB (tablature files) that was named CrossRoads BBS.

BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Smartphone

It’s hard for me to believe that I’ve not reviewed a
BlackBerry device in over 6 years. The
last device that I reviewed was the
950,
which was an email only device shaped like a pager. Back in 2001, BlackBerry
products did not have telephony capabilities. These devices were for one purpose and one
purpose only: email. Wow, times sure have changed, haven’t they? That’s especially evident with the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 series smartphone. This little beauty sports a quad band GSM radio, a wonderful display and an innovative trackball pointer. Will this phone cause me to put my
Treo 680
and 750
in my
drawer o’ phones
, or will it end up there itself? You will have to keep reading
to find the answer.

Sylvania’s Dot-it mini LED Light

I am a huge fan of white LEDs. Light Emitting Diodes are bright, compact, and require little power, which makes them perfect for small spaces. While reorganizing my utility closet last winter, I became frustrated that it did not have any built-in source of light. Briefly contemplating the idea of rewiring of my house, I decided to look for a battery powered light source made to stick to a wall or ceiling.

Etymotic Research ety8 Bluetooth Noise-Isolating Earphones

I love listening to my 2nd generation Apple iPod Nano, but the earbud cables always seem to get in my way. So far I’ve only had the opportunity to review one wireless headphone solution for the iPod: Bluetake’s i-PHONO mini BT450Tx. Unfortunately, I didn’t really like it all that much and to date I am still using wired phones. Then this past January, I was able to a demo Etymotic Research’s ety8 Bluetooth earphones at CES. Their products aren’t new to The Gadgeteer, we’ve reviewed several over the years. I quickly asked if I could review the ety8 earphones. They said yes and here is the review.

Tekkeon ET6000 ezSpeak Handsfree Bluetooth Speakerphone

I think most of us will agree that using handsfree solutions for talking on our mobile phones is much more convenient than not using a handsfree solution. Especially while driving. Fumbling with a phone when you are supposed to be focusing on the road is dangerous to you and others. But for one reason or another, not all of us like using Bluetooth headsets to remedy this problem. Now there is another solution to consider. Tekkeon’s ET6000 ezSpeak Handsfree Bluetooth Speakerphone can be clipped on your car’s sun visor, or used it in the office to make and receive calls with your Bluetooth enabled phone.

Cardo Systems scala-700 Bluetooth Headset

Ever since my review last year, my favorite Bluetooth headset has been Cardo Systems scala-500. This inexpensive headset is light weight, comfortable and easy to use. It’s not flashy like a lot of the latest headsets, but it gets the job done without making you sound like you are standing at the bottom of a well. Now Cardo Systems has a new headset: the scala-700. Let’s check it out.
