Segway’s first scooter launch of 2026 is aimed at commuters who want more usable range without stepping up to the company’s more extreme performance models. The new MAX G3 Plus is now available for pre-order in the U.S. for $1,149.99, a limited-time $350 discount from its $1,499.99 MSRP. Segway says orders will begin shipping August 25 through Segway, Best Buy, and Amazon.
The MAX G3 Plus is an upgrade to the MAX G3 rather than a completely new platform. The headline change is a 717 Wh battery, which Segway describes as 20% larger than the previous model’s battery. The company claims up to 56 miles of range, along with a top speed of 28 mph and 2,200 watts of maximum power.

The 56-mile claim has an important caveat
Segway is also changing how it measures maximum range. The MAX G3 Plus is the first Segway scooter to use the company’s new range-testing standard. Instead of counting distance until the battery is completely depleted, Segway measures each riding mode until the scooter’s top speed drops to 60% of that mode’s maximum.
That should give buyers a better idea of how much performance remains at the end of a ride, but 56 miles is still a manufacturer claim, not an independent Gadgeteer test result. Real-world range will depend on rider weight, speed, hills, temperature, tire pressure, and how much time the scooter spends in its faster modes. Segway’s one-sheet specifies the 56-mile figure at 9 mph.
More visible hardware for city riding
The Plus adds dedicated rear turn signals to the MAX platform, along with optimized reflector placement and redesigned brake levers. It also uses dual cable disc brakes with larger 140 mm rotors and Segway’s Intelligent Combined Braking System. ICBS combines regenerative braking with the mechanical disc brakes, which Segway says can improve braking efficiency and reduce mechanical wear.
The scooter keeps the MAX G3’s dual hydraulic suspension, 11-inch self-sealing tires, dual disc brakes, and stability-focused SegRide system. Segway lists a 286-pound payload and a 55.6-pound scooter weight. The published maximum slope angle is 30%, though that figure should be treated as a controlled-condition specification until it’s tested independently.
The smart features are practical, not just decorative
The MAX G3 Plus has a 2.4-inch color TFT display with navigation and ride information. It supports AirLock unlocking through the Segway Mobility app and can be tracked through Apple Find My. Other features include an automatic headlight, underglow lighting, handlebar and rear turn signals, and an IPX6 water-resistance rating.
Segway also lists Intelligent Riding Assist, which uses gyroscope data to add assistance uphill, provide more control downhill, and reduce throttle sensitivity over rough surfaces. The battery-management system adds charge-time tracking, battery-health monitoring, temperature protection, and customizable charging limits.
Charging takes four hours with the built-in charger, or three hours with two charging cables. That second-cable setup is an extra accessory, so buyers should factor it into the real cost if faster charging matters.
Should you consider the MAX G3 Plus?
The MAX G3 Plus looks most interesting for commuters who already like the MAX G3’s stable, practical design but want more battery capacity, better visibility from behind, and a clearer range test. The pre-order price also makes the upgrade easier to justify, at least while the $350 discount lasts.
