If you read Bill’s recent review of the mrBEAMS ReadyBright Home Power Outage System and thought it was a great idea but you’d like a portable light, too, you might want to check out the ReadyBright Lantern.  (This is an IndieGoGo project currently seeking funding.)  The ReadyBright Lantern is an add-on to the mrBeams system, and it will be automatically turned on when the system senses a power failure.  The very bright Cree LED promises to provide 300 lumens and over 25 hours of bright light.  It also has a night light mode, and you can turn it off and on manually to conserve the batteries.  The lantern has a USB port so you can charge your smartphone or other USB-chargeable device.

For a pledge of $30, you’ll receive one Power Outage Detector (POD) and a Path Light, and $45 will get you one POD and a ReadyBright Lantern.  Higher pledges give you more complete packages.  If successfully funded, the Lantern will begin shipping on Novemeber 20.  The funding period continues through November 6 at 11:59PM PT.
