Easy to use compass that you’ll never break

This little compass will always show you which way is North. Just remove it from the included waterproof aluminum capsule, set it on a flat surface and it will swivel around to point North/South. A Red dot marks the North end of this powerful rare earth magnet that is pretty much unbreakable. Even better is the fact that it’s only $4.95 from Lee Valley Tools. Get one for your EDC.

Love the idea, and was going to buy one… two actually… until I realized that it was $9 shipping.

Pop quiz. Who can tell about True North, Magnetic north and declination? It’s near gadget but I will take A-10 Suunto compass anyday for lesser price.

Looks like it could roll into some crevice, just when you need it most.

No, I probably won’t break it – but I’ll quite surely lose it!

Will it intervere with my other gadget in my pocket? phone, etc

Let me get this straight : instead of a convenient, cheapo $2 compass attached to a keychain or clipped to a zipper, I’ll pay more than twice as much for a little piece of metal that will roll off any surface that is not perfectly level, cannot be used on the move, and will probably disappear into the underbrush or nearest grate just when I need it most ? No thanks.
