Voyager – Pocket PC File Explorer

Today’s review is on a category of software that isn’t very exciting or sexy but something that everyone who really uses their PocketPC device needs each and every day…it’s the File Explorer utility. If you are like me, you are constantly working on the internals of your PDA, moving files between cards and internal memory, accessing hidden registry files or just doing some old fashion housekeeping. I believe a truly great File Explorer can be worth every cent if it makes these functions easier for me!

Brando Nano Size Digital Audio Player

Apple changed the digital audio player landscape when it replaced its popular Hard Disk Drive (HDD) based iPod Mini with the flash-based iPod Nano. This shift forced competitors to launch their own version, which further propelled the demand for flash-based players and, in my opinion, altered the digital audio player market forever. One such device is the digital audio player by Brando. Let’s see how Brando’s latest audio device stacks up.

OHSO Marko Travel Toothbrush

This one is for all of you travelers out there. Start rejoicing, because I’m going to tell you about a gadget that will replace that soggy ziploc baggie that no self-respecting gadgeteer should be using. You know what I’m talking about, we all know that Blue and Yellow make Green, but do we really want to use a baggie to hold our toothbrush and toothpaste, when we can use something cool like the OHSO Marco Travel Toothbrush instead? I didn’t think so.

Mobius Boston 2006 Trip Report

Updated with Day 2
This year, Microsoft changed things up and decided to hold two Mobius events back to back. The first one was held in Thailand, and the second one here in the US. Typically, the events here in the US have always been held in Seattle, WA., near Microsoft’s Redmond headquarters. But this year they opted for Boston, MA. Lucky for me, I was invited to the Boston event. This meant a short 2hr flight, instead of 4-5 hours to Seattle.

EDGE Tech diskGO 2.5″ Backup Ultra Portable Hard Drive

One of my regularly watched television shows is the Discovery Channel’s It Takes a Thief. The point of the show is to demonstrate how easy it is for a thief to break into someone’s house and steal everything with any value; the show aims to educate people on better ways to protect themselves from being a victim. On one of last season’s episodes, they featured a grandmother who had transferred all of her family photos and documents to her computer’s hard drive. During the course of that particular show’s staged robbery, the thief emptied the grandmother’s silver drawer, jewelry box and medicine cabinet, and then he picked up her computer tower and casually carried it out the door. Had the robbery been real, all of her carefully collected family photos and documents would have been gone forever. Even though the “victim” knew she would be getting all of her possessions back at the end of the show, I still couldn’t help but feel sorry for her as she agonized over the idea of losing her digital treasures.

HitchSafe Key Vault

This story is funny now, but when it first happened I was really upset…
A couple years ago, I was at the ranch making my rounds – checking water and making sure that the cows’ feeders had ample salt and minerals. I had brought my dachshund Trixie along for the day’s ride, and at one of my stops I had to get out and fix a trough float that was unseated and overflowing.
I didn’t turn the truck’s engine off. As I had hundreds of times before, I just hopped out with my tool box and left Trixie in the truck while she watched me through the window.
This truck had automatic locks and as it was a hot day, I had left the windows up with the air conditioner running.

Hydro-Industries ReelSmart Automatic Hose Reel

August in Southern Indiana can be both hot and humid. Temperatures around 100 degrees are not unusual for us. As a result,
it’s normal to see people watering their outdoor plants in the evenings, to keep them from frying to a crisp. I’ve been
known to shirk my watering duties due to the fact that I hate wrestling with the garden hose. Unwinding it usually isn’t
a big deal, but winding back onto the reel can sometimes be an exercise in frustration. Since I’m all for trying a product
that has been designed to ease my frustration level, I was happy to review the ReelSmart Automatic Hose Reel from Hydro-Industries.

Lumaray FL6 2006 LED Flashlight

The first Lumaray flashlight I ever reviewed was last year’s FL6.
After completing that review, I fully planned on keeping the torch
and using it for many years to come…but that was not to be. I
made the mistake of showing it to my good friend Grabb, a detective
with the Tom Green County Sherriff’s Department. He convinced me
that he needed it worse than I did. The second Lumaray I reviewed
was the FL12. This flashlight had no sooner shown up at our house
than my husband Steve told me he wanted it as soon as I had
completed the review. Are you noticing a pattern here? Grrrr…
