iSkin revo for iPhone

I don’t use cases for my mobile devices very often these days. I prefer to just put them in a pocket in my gear bag, or jeans. Same goes for my iPhone. I typically just put it in my right cargo pants pocket or back pocket when I’m walking around, and on my desk when I’m not. Even though I don’t use a case very often with my iPhone, I’m always up for testing one. As a result, my first iPhone case review is of iSkin’s revo.

PDA247.com asks if book publishers should be forced into offering digital versions of their books?

Shaun McGill over at one of my favorite sites: PDA247, has just posted an interested editorial / survey piece on the subject of eBooks. He’s asking the question if publishers should be forced into offering digital versions in addition to paper editions of their books. Personally, I would like to see this practice adopted asap.

I want your feedback on using the Gear Diary comment system site wide

We’ve used VBBS forum software for our reviews and articles for years and years, but recently we built a new comment system that we’ve only been testing here in the Gear Diary area of The Gadgeteer. Since this new system has been stable, we’re now considering using it for the rest of the site. What

How one month with the iPhone has made me appreciate the Treo 680 more than ever

Today is July 29th. One month ago today, I was standing in line (it was a very short line, but a line all the same) at my local AT&T store to buy the much hyped iPhone. On that day, I remember being excited because I was getting a new toy to play with. But I

Altec Lansing inMotion iMV712 Digital Mini-Theater for iPod

Here’s an iPod speaker system that one ups all the others I’ve seen on the market these days. The Altec Lansing inMotion iMV712 Digital Mini-Theater system has a built-in color display so that you can view photo slideshows and videos stored on your video iPod, on a much larger screen. Is it worth the price tag though? Let’s take a closer look…

Toffee Leather Sleeve

It seems the more people spend on electronics, the more they are willing to spend to keep them in tip-top shape. For example, The Gadgeteer has tons of reviews of Vaja cases for high-end Palm or HP devices, but I doubt you’ll find a Vaja case for a Palm Z22 or Zire. The same goes for laptops; there are definitely plenty of choices in cases for higher-end laptops, like Apple’s MacBook series or the Thinkpad, but I don’t think there are any for a $500 Dell or Everex. In this review, I’ll take a look at a minimalist sleeve for a MacBook, the Toffee.

How to take great macro pictures without a lot of equipment

I receive frequent emails asking me how I take such nice close up (macro) product images for my reviews. As a result, I thought I would share some of my ‘secrets’ for macro photography. Some people think that if they buy the most expensive bazillion mega pixel DSLR camera on the market, that they will
