REVIEW – Someone who didn’t cook designed my kitchen. I say that because it’s not particularly user friendly. There is no place for a trash can, so I’ve struggled for years to figure out where to put one, how to handle the recycling, and a million other issues. OHWILL rolled out a dual can that looked like it could handle a fair amount of trash and recycling too, so I decided to give it a try.

Design and features
The OHWILL Dual trashcan comes fully assembled and ready to handle all of your trash challenges. I received the stainless-steel model and it arrived well cushioned and in perfect shape. It has handy indentations on the outside to help move it easily and some holes on the removeable buckets at the top. I’m not sure what those are for, but it makes it easier to lift the can out. It comes in a variety of colors (gray, white, stainless, black and brown) and they all feature a black plastic lid.
One unique feature about the OHWILL Dual trash can is that it has a soft-close mechanism that is silent when the lid closes. That is neat, but it’s negated by the fact that it smacks my kitchen counter every time it opens, so I wish there was a way to adjust how wide the lid swings open. I know that might seem like a problem that won’t happen to most people, but I doubt I’m the only one.
The OHWILL Dual trashcan seems to hold odors in well and the stainless-steel one is supposed to hide fingerprints. I don’t have fingerprints, but I do have some water spots on it. The can is located next to the sink, so I’ve resigned myself to get used to that. This can will fit underneath my counter, but because I didn’t want to give up a counter seat, I chose to put it at the end of my kitchen island.
The 16-gallon capacity is more than enough for me. Usually, I take the trash out a couple of times a week, and this one is no different, except now I have a place to put my recycling. Some people label the cans, but I don’t think that is necessary. If you go to throw something away, I think it’s fairly obvious what side is for garbage and which side is for recycling if there is stuff already inside. The can configuration is square and my old trash can was more of a rectangle. While this the OHWILL Dual trash can won’t fit a medium sized pizza box like my old can did, it’s also a better fit next to my kitchen island because it isn’t so deep. It’s a good trade off.
The Costco tall kitchen bags are what I use for my trash, and they are a smidge big for the OHWILL Dual trash can and that bums me out. I wind up having to knot the bag’s handle and then slip the bag over the top of each bucket and then make sure the bag is tucked all the way in or it can interfere with the closing of the lid and show outside the bag when the lid is closed. I find that fussy and it might prompt me to try different kinds of bags when I run out.
Final thoughts
I like this trash can, but I’ve got to figure out the trash bag issue because that will wear on me.

- The black plastic lid hides smudges to a large extent
What needs to be improved?
- The fussy trash bag issue
- Smacking my countertop edge is annoying (but might not be a problem for others).

We have something similiar…
We put two small pieces of foam in a position to negate smacking the counter (the struggle is real, especially at 2am!).
For the bag issue, we got some elastic liner holders off Amazon and the trick is to put them about 1/3rd of the way down from the top. When you slide the can back in all the bunch should be well below the lid, and then as you fill the can the bag will slide up as needed.
Generally we change the trash bag but just dump the recycle one until it gets nasty.
