NEWS – What is STEMFIE? The STEMFIE Project is an open-sourced educational construction toy that you can download and make at home on your 3D printer for free. The model shown above is made from STEMFIE parts that include beams, fasteners, plates, gears, shafts, washers, and more. The ability to print individual parts as you need them in any color filament you like sounds like a lot of fun.
This system is giving me Erector set vibes, which is close to my heart because, as a little kid, I remember playing with the set my dad had as a child. Before he died, he rekindled his love of Erector sets by buying restored original sets from the 1930s and 40s.Â
If STEMFIE is something that you want to try, you can learn more about it and download part models by visiting stemfie.org

“you can download and make at home on your 3D printer for free”
Translation: with the price of 3D filament, “for free” = cost of sterling silver lego set.
Of course you have to buy your own filament. That’s obvious. But the 3D files are free. 🙂

You’ll never run out of parts – just print as many as you need.
