BAUX is a Kickstarter project for custom machined aluminum pens that use Bic pen parts. Made of Bauxite, an aluminum ore, BAUX pens aren’t really pens at all. They are really just the barrel of the pen, which you combine with readily available Bic pen parts to create your own unique writing instrument. Bic pens come in a wide variety of colors, so you can switch up the look of your BAUX pen whenever the mood strikes. If fully funded, the pen tubes should ship in June and will be available in different anodized colors as well as with or without grooves. A pledge of $23 will reserve 2 pens in your choice of color and barrel style. International customers can get the same deal for $29.

What’s funny is that the first thing I thought of when I saw these were that they’d be great for spitwads, lol. That’s what *some folks* (not me, by the way) did with the Bic round stic pens anyway – take ’em apart and create a little mischief.
Or, they could be long-lasting straws as well (assuming they’ve been cleaned and don’t have any solvent residue).
@OKE I bet they would be great for pen twirling too!
I’ve yet to master the pen twirling, actually. (Unfortunate experience ahead…) I thought I had the hang of it (using plastic, disposable pens) and once twirled a nicer, metal pen, only to have it fly out of my control and get ding’ed up as it hit and bounced along the ground. Happened to be fiddling with it while walking in a parking lot, so, not only did it get banged up by the pavement, but I was mid-step when it fell, and it landed right where I was going to step. So then I slipped on it and probably made any slight dings to it a non-issue as I ground it with my shoe and attempted to regain balance. Not my finest moment…
Oh, and clarification – the use of round stics for spitwads was back in junior high…
@OKE That sounds like a segment from a sitcom 😉
Will this pen get through TSA security checks? I’d hate to lose it that way…
