When I reviewed the South of Market Audio Dock from Audyssey, I was blown over by the sound, the bass, the size, the… well, just about everything. Everything, except the Bluetooth wireless. As I have said before, I am not a fan of Bluetooth. Maybe the new Bluetooth 4.0 will change my mind, but for now, it’s a no go. That was my main beef with the SOMA Dock (now called just Audio Dock), and I said too bad it didn’t come with Apple’s AirPlay. It turns out that Audyssey was already secretly working on an AirPlay speaker – Audio Dock Air – and it is now available.
Priced at $399.99, it isn’t cheap. But if the audio quality of the original Audio Dock are any indication, then this is going to be a fun speaker with room-filling sound. We hope to have a review of the Audyssey Audio Dock Air soon.
