iNoxCase for the iPhone 4 – Hot or Not?

What is it about metal iPhone cases that people seem to love? We’ve reviewed several ourselves (with more to come), but what do you all think of the iNoxCase from Columbia River Knife and Tool? This case is made of stainless steel and is available in several colors including Camo. The price isn’t too bad at $59.99 – $69.99. But it’s the 180 degree rotating visor lid that has me wrinkling up my nose. It’s designed to protect the front display while still allowing views of the time and incoming calls. But all I can help but think when I see it is this. I guess it’s true that everything old is new again at some point.

I think that visor lid was first introduced in star trek. Their communicator had one :)

I remember those of us with the PocketPC crowd were frustrated that none of the manufacturers would build that kind of lid into the device except for the HP Jornada which was underpowered compared to the Casio and Compaq equivalents.

I tried to buy one of these while I was work, and when I clicked on the ‘Add To Cart’ button, the proxy server blocked the page with: ‘Your request was denied because of its content categorization: “Weapons”‘

I have been drooling over this case for a while. Had the opportunity to play with one yesterday and my iPhone 4 slid out of the case and smacked the counter when turned upside down. Definitely lacking some kind of retention device.
