REVIEW – When you want a small multi-tool that doesn’t sacrifice features for size, you probably think about the Leatherman Squirt or Gerber Dime. Well, now I have another contender for your EDC. It’s the Oknife Otacle P1 multi-tool. Let’s check it out.

The Oknife Otacle P1 is a small multi-tool sized to fit comfortably in your pocket or hang from your keychain.

Design and features
Before we get into the review, let’s compare the Oknife Otacle P1 multi-tool (left) with a Leatherman Squirt (right).
The Otacle P1 is larger than the Squirt, but not by a whole lot. The extra size does mean that the Otacle P1 pliers are a bit more robust than the Leatherman Squirt pliers.
The Oknife Otacle P1 multi-tool has black 5052 aluminum alloy handles with black fasteners.
The internal tools are made of 30Cr13 stainless steel.
The multi-tool unfolds just like many other multi-tools to reveal a set of spring-loaded pliers that feature needlenose pliers on the end, regular pliers in the center, and wire-cutter pliers at the base.
When fully opened, the Oknife Otacle P1 multi-tool is 4.25 inches long.
The spring-loaded mechanism feels a lot smoother than my Leatherman Squirt and the extra handle length makes it more comfortable to use.

Is it weird that other than the pliers, screwdrivers, and the knife, my favorite tool is the SIM card ejector? 😉 I guess it’s a Gadgeteer thing.
One tool that would be great to add would be a file.
I used the Oknife Otacle P1 for several days to open boxes, tighten screws, cut paper with the scissors, and eject SIM cards on a couple of different Android phones that I’ve been reviewing like the OnePlus 11 5G. All the tools work as expected.

Final thoughts
So, is the Oknife Otacle P1 better than a Leatherman Squirt? That’s a tough one because the Squirt has been in my EDC kit for a very long time and I love its tiny size because I don’t like my EDC to weigh me down. Having said that, I think the Otacle P1 has better pliers and better scissors than the Squirt. I also think the Otacle P1’s blade is stronger and larger. Add these things together and I have no problem saying that the Oknife Otacle P1 is a good alternative to the Leatherman Squirt multi-tool if the extra size is not an issue for you.
With only an Oknife Otacle P1 multi-tool, you probably won’t be the last one standing on a reality survival show like Alone (anyone else out there love watching this show like I do?). But for day-to-day light-duty tasks, I think the Otacle P1 (who came up with this name?) is a decent little multi-tool for people who want something a bit larger than a Leatherman Squirt or who have a limited budget for their EDC gear. Another cool mini multi-tool to check out is the Oknife Otacle D1.

I have a NexTool Mini Sailor that looks very much like the Otacle P1 — also has a better model name.
You’re right, they look the same except for the handle design and it’s only $10.24 on Aliexpress!

A more direct comparison would be the Squirt PS4 model rather than the ES4 pictured. The ES4 primary function was as a wire stripper, not pliers. The Squirt line is also discontinued now, so comparison is moot 😉. I’d buy the ES4 if you want to sell it 🙂. It’s my daily carry and I misplaced the last one I had 😕

Has anyone thought to make a prototype knife that
Has a fingernail clipper that works.
One blade, about 3 or 4 inches.
No scissors. No screw drivers
One file , fine for sharping fish hooks, camp knives,
This is for carrying in a front pocket, not in a sheath.

I also watch alone… No idea why, but it is fascinating.
A nice review, but one point is missing; does the Otacle have a lockable blade? The lack of a lock-open blade is the principal flaw of most (all?) other small EDC multi-tools.
