REVIEW – I had a standing desk in my guest room, but I recently had the idea of using it for product photos in my office. I decided to grab the Northread Standing Desk review offer. Will this desk be staying in the guest room? Probably not; read on to find out why.

Design and features
My guest room is really just for grandkids and when my son visits from out of town. They have their laptops and tablets, so having a decent desk in there keeps them from wanting to hang out in my office.
I was intrigued by the Northread Standing Desk because it was width adjustable, which means that I could replace the tabletop portion in the future if I wanted a wider desk, which is something I’m planning on doing. Unlike single motor standing desks with a turning shaft connecting the sides, the Northread Standing Desk has dual motors, so there’s no turning shaft going from side to side.
The desk frame and table top are actually two separate products, but both from Northread. The desk was packaged very well and was extremely easy to assemble. The supplied table top is 47″ wide, 23″ deep, and 1″ thick. The table top has a single wiring pass-through hole, making cord management easier.
The three-stage desk lifting mechanism has a soft start and stop, making a smooth transition. It can also detect collisions, preventing damage if something prevents the desk from going up or down. Speaking of going up and down, the controller has up and down buttons and four memory setting buttons. Simply push the memory setting, and the desk will re-position to your desired height while you’re off getting more coffee.
So, why will the Northread Standing Desk probably not stay in my guest room? I’m probably going to steal it for my home office, again. Because of the high lift capacity of 265lbs, this desk would be perfect for a large, 6-foot, natural wood table top.
What I like
- Easy to assemble
- Adjustable width
- Strong lifting capacity
- Quiet operation
What I’d change
- Nothing I can think of
Final thoughts
The Northread Standing Desk is a very adjustable and quiet operating desk that will fit in any home or professional environment. Expandability means that it will grow as your needs change. It’s easy to assemble and operate.
