REVIEW β I have a weird relationship with the iPad. I buy one, donβt use it, sell it, buy another, rarely use it, sell itβ¦ you get the idea. Right now I have the 2022 11-inch iPad Pro which Iβve been using to read books, and comics, and even draw (redraw) one of my own comics. Since I am using the iPad, I need a way to protect it and the latest case / cover that Iβve been testing is the PITAKA MagEZ Folio 2 iPad Pro cover. Letβs check it out.
What is it?
The PITAKA MagEZ Folio 2 is a book-style cover for the 11 inch and 12.9 inch iPad Pro that has a folding cover that allows the cover to become a stand for your iPad.

Design and features
The first image in this review shows the PITAKA MagEZ Folio 2 in both white and black. Pitaka sent both versions to me, but Iβm only showing the black one here because I donβt like white cases due to how easy they are to get dirty.
With that out of the way, the Folio 2 is made of PU leather. Is it just me, or does it annoy you when manufacturers say something is leather when itβs not? It might look like leather, but itβs a man-made material. It does have a nice matte finish so it wonβt show fingerprints, smudges, or dirt. Yay!
The front of the cover has a cool design due to the grooves that allow the cover to foldβ¦ but more on that later. You will also notice that thereβs the PITAKA logo in the top right corner and thereβs a wrap-around magnetic βclaspβ that holds the cover closed and it also does double duty of securing the Apple Pencil in place if you happen to have one.
The back of the PITAKA MagEZ Folio 2 is free from branding or any other designs. All you see here is the camera cutout.
Letβs see a close-up of the camera cutout. You can see that the cover is thick enough that it will provide some protection for the camera bump. In the image above, you can also see the texture of the cover. It does feel like leather. But itβs not.
When you open the Folio 2, youβll find that the interior of the cover is lined with a soft microfiber that protects your iPad from scratches. The right side of the cover has strong magnets that hold your iPad in place without needing a special case.
As just mentioned, you donβt need a special case on your iPad in order to use the Folio 2, but it does works perfectly with PITAKAβs PitaFlow case which I reviewed a couple of months ago.
Ok, letβs check out the main feature (other than protecting your iPad Pro) of the PITAKA MagEZ Folio 2. Itβs the fact that the cover folds to create a stand for the iPad.
The cover has magnets that keep the folded shape secured and the magnets also automatically wake and sleep the iPad when you open or close the cover.
The cover offers 4 different viewing angles without needing to remove or reposition your iPad in the cover.
In the image above, you can see how to use the iPad in portrait orientation.
Then there are 3 ways to use the PITAKA MagEZ Folio 2 in landscape orientation. In total, there are 4 different angles that you can configure the iPad in angles from 34 up to 62 degrees.
What I like
- Quality case
- Ability to view the iPad in 4 angles
- Ability to secure the Apple Pencil
What Iβd change
- Nothing
Final thoughts
Iβve been a fan and a user of PITAKA cases for my iPhone for years and currently have my iPhone 13 Pro Max in the PITAKA MagEZ Case 2. Now that Iβm using the iPad regularly, I canβt think of another case that I would rather use than the PITAKA MagEZ Folio 2. Itβs a quality cover that will protect the iPad Pro while providing easy to use viewing angles and good lucks. This cover gets a thumbs up from me.

Will this case work on the pitaka magnetic mageze stand, or is it too heavy for this stand? Thanks
Steven, if you also have one of Pitaka’s MagEZ snap-on charging cases, it almost works with the charging stand, but the magnetic hold isn’t very strong. If you don’t have a MagEZ case on your iPad, it won’t work at all with the charging stand.
I guess it would be pointless to try to use them together, anyway. Thanks for your reply.
