REVIEW – I’ve reviewed quite a few smartwatches over the years, but once the review was posted, I stopped wearing them because they always felt too bulky and uncomfortable on my wrist. But then I reviewed a fitness system that used the Apple Watch. They sent me a refurb to use with their system and from that day forward, I’ve been wearing an Apple Watch on my wrist. I even upgraded to a Series 6 model last year. I like everything about the Apple Watch including the fact that it can double as a bedside clock at night. So what could make this watch even better? The NightWatch. Let’s take a look.
What is it?
NightWatch is a simple but elegant charging dock for all Apple Watch series watches. It’s designed to work with your existing Apple Watching charging cable and requires no charging of its own. Its main function is to enhance the nightstand mode on the watch which displays the time in large numbers and will gently brighten the screen in the minutes leading up to an alarm.

Design and features
The NightWatch dock is a solid piece of polished lucite.
It’s dome shape provides a magnifying lens over the Apple Watch’s face when it’s inserted into the back of the dock.
The dock features a slot for your existing Apple Watch charger.
All you have to do is press the charger into the cutout in the Dock and route the charging cable into the left or right slot in the base.
The base has a non-slip pad to keep the NightWatch from sliding around on your nightstand.
With the charging cable inserted, it’s up to you to plug it into a charging port or adapter and place it on your nightstand.
When it’s time for bed, set your alarm on the watch or your iPhone, side your Apple Watch into the NightWatch dock’s charging slot, and pleasant dreams.
When the charging cable is plugged in and the watch is charging, it will show the time on the watch’s face. The NightWatch magnifies the time making it appear just larger and brighter in a darkened room. The Apple Watch display will go off after inactivity, but you can actually tap the top of the NightWatch and it will show the time again for a few seconds. Sometimes you can even tap the top of your nightstand itself and it will wake up the display.
Another feature of the NightWatch is that it can amplify sounds if you set alarms on the watch itself. There’s a cutout in the dock that matches with the speaker in the watch and then there’s a channel in the lucite that routes the sound out the front of the NightWatch.

Final thoughts
The NightWatch is a simple product that enhances an already great product – the Apple Watch. If you’re someone (like me) who likes to check the time in the middle of the night, the NightWatch can improve that experience without needing a separate power outlet. I think including an Apple Watch charging cable with the NightWatch would be nice, but maybe I’m just being greedy. Regardless, this unique product that Apple Watch users will appreciate.
