NEWS – When it comes to getting a good night’s sleep in the 21st century, it’s not enough to just replace an old mattress with a new one. It’s now gotten … complicated. Instead of old-time spring coil mattresses, you can now choose from foam, air or hybrid designs. We now buy “sleep systems”.
One such sleep system (their words, not mine) is the Eight Sleep Pod. It comes with mattress, Pod and sleep-tracking app. You know—a system.
The Eight Sleep Pod is a smart solution to the age-old problem of getting consistent, quality sleep. Eight Sleep’s goal is to make the Pod as comfortable as it is smart with four layers of adaptive foam encased in soft and durable fabrics.
The Pod is the first and only bed designed with water-powered thermal technology paired with comfort features providing a level of firmness, comfort, and pressure-point relief. It can warm or cool you into never-never land helping you get the rest you need.
The Pod utilizes what Eight Sleep calls an Active Grid technology. It regulates the temperature on each side of the bed individually. This tech is easily programmed and entirely customizable. The Pod’s hub houses a proprietary thermal engine. Water flows from the Hub to the Active Grid to keep temperatures as warm or cool as you desire.
The Pod has sensors that track sleep phases and heart and respiratory rates while constantly adjusting temperature levels based on your needs. Everything is controlled using the Eight Sleep app. It learns how you sleep and maintains your ideal sleep temperature that can be regulated from 55 to 115 degrees. From the app, you can set temperatures, review data, and access additional resources. There’s a yearly fee if you want to unlock even more features within the app.
Eight Sleep offers the Pod with free shipping, a 100-night trial, and free returns if you’re not satisfied. 0% financing is offered. The Pod is available in full, queen, king and California king sizes. Prices range from $2,295 to $2,795. Visit Eight Sleep for more information.

Someone has managed to turn sleep into a subscription. I’m not sure there’s anything left.
