OAXIS produces cases for your iPhone 5 or Samsung Galaxy Note II that incorporate a 3.5″ ePaper screen into the back of the case.  The ePaper screen connects via Bluetooth and serves as an auxiliary screen.  Using a special app “allows users to control and manage the second screen to display images, notifications, reminders, and other contents.”  The eInk screen is visible even in bright light, making it easy to see your notifications.  I wonder if the app will let you read ePubs on the secondary screen?  The InkCase i5 case fits the iPhone 5/5s, and the InkCase N2 is for the Samsung Note II.  Both cases are available from OAXIS in your choice of black or white for $125.00.

  2. Oh cool. If they’d drop the price, and make it just a sticky back (or something like that) you could put it anywhere. Most Bluetooth LE devices have about 100′ range, so anywhere in the house.

  3. @David – That’s actually a great idea making it not device specific. I’ll actually stick it near my monitor and have it display a to-do list or calender appointments. =D

  4. At the very least, I would want the eInk to show the notice “Reward for Return”

At the most I like the idea of my reminders and appointments for the days.

eInk is the “Rodney Dangerfield of technology.” It hasn’t gotten the respect it deserves compared to backlighting.
