There are new AirPlay speakers on the market weekly, but what do you do if you have nice speakers you’d like to continue to use? With the Twenty AirPlay Digital Amplifier for AirPort Express from Griffin, you can turn any non-amplified speakers into AirPlay speakers. The Twenty is a 2.1 channel Class D stereo amplifier (TI PurePath) that delivers 20W per channel and supports a powered subwoofer with automatic active crossover at 80Hz. It’s designed to work with the old-style AirPort Express as both a power source and amp, but it will work with any digital audio source, including the new Airport Express. Simply connect the digital audio source to the Twenty using the included TOSLINK cable, attach your non-powered speakers and amp, and enjoy music and sound from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, iTunes on a computer, or Apple TV. At only $99.99, it’s a cost-effect method of converting your existing speakers to an AirPlay system.

I got one as soon as they came out. I’m using mine to drive a pair of Monitor Audio R250HDs and a subwoofer in my kitchen, and it sounds beautiful. Setup was completely trivial, and the unit looks good.
This looks Great. I have an “old style” Airport Express sitting on the shelf that needs to be put to use.
Thanks, Byron
