Here’s another entry into The Gadgeteer’s list of compact charging cables: the Quick Change Universal Dock Adapter from AViiQ. This cable combines a microUSB, miniUSB, and an Apple 30-pin connector into one cable. The flat ribbon cable is 5.5″ long and weighs only 1.5 oz, so you won’t even notice it’s in your bag. One end has a normal USB plug, and the other has a swivel head multi-connector with the three connectors. There’s even a clip on one end of the cable so you can clip it to a pocket or your bag, just like a pen. The Quick Change Universal Dock Adapter is normally $29.99, but it’s available now for $23.99. Sale prices end August 17, 2012.

Just in time for Apple’s change to the iPhone connection! ☺
But that doesn’t mean everyone is going to trash all their current iPods, iPhones, and iPads. There will be plenty of people who’ll be using the 30-pin connect for a while.
The product photos on the Aviiq site don’t show that these can bend at all. It seems that it would be difficult to use one of these with a wall wart USB charger or other uses besides sitting flat on a tabletop connected to a notebook computer. I have a few of these Innergie adapter cables and with their flexible cords I can use them to connect phones and tablets to external batteries and chargers.
