Get a Charge from Zephyr Speakers

Sometimes you want to listen to music, but it’s not prudent to wear earbuds.  The built-in speakers, if your device even has them, usually sound pretty bad, so it’s nice to have a small external speaker with you.  It’s even nicer when the speakers are Bluetooth so you don’t have to mess with a bunch of wires.  But it’s best of all when you can use your speakers to recharge your cell phone or tablet, right?  What, your speakers can’t recharge your phone?  The new Zephyr portable Bluetooth speakers from SPAR can.  They can play back your music and they function as a hands-free speakerphone, too.

The Zephyr 550 (top left) has a 3000mA rechargeable battery for 30 hours of music, 1.5W X 2 channels of HD audio, and is available in black or silver for $159.99.  The Zephyr 500 (bottom) has a 15oomA battery for 18 hours of music, 1.5W X 2 channels of HD audio, and is available in black or white for $129.99.  These two speakers are only slightly bigger than a smartphone.  The Zephyr 300 (top right) is about the size of a smartphone and has an 800mA battery for 12 hours of music; it’s available in black, red, or blue for $99.99.  All three models have a USB port so you can charge your phone or tablet, too.  The Zephyr speakers will ship in December, and you can pre-order them now.

Anyone know if these compare sound-quality wise to the Jambox?

I notice there’s no actually technical specifications about the output on the USB port. Ipads and most current Android Tablets require a 2A rather than the standard 500ma USB port. If they are supplying 2A might be worth them clarifying or specifying that on product specifications.
