This little digital camera is a replica of the famous Rolleiflex 2.8F twin lens reflex camera.  The Rolleiflex MiniDigi AF 5.0 camera is only about 2.9 x 1.8 x 1.8″ and weighs 3.5 ounces.  It is available in red/black or all black.  The camera is 5MP and it has a 1.1″ view screen and produces a square photo – just like its inspiration.  It is available at B&H Photo for $266.

Have always loved the look of that film camera…especially that one can take a photo without bringing the camera up to the eye.

Never did get why they didn’t make a full size replica, but instead chose to make a mini version that appears very clumsy to hold.

@andix Blame Janet not me… She’s the one that is the cause of your dwindling 401k.

@andix Don’t feel bad. I ordered mine before I posted this to be sure I got one… If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can get one for the same price with free shipping. (Unless you spring for the $4 overnight shipping like I did.)

I’m dating myself…but when I was 6 years old, my dad worked as a photographer for the local newspaper, and I got to “take pictures” on one of those, and help him develop the photos in the dark room. I can still smell the developer & stop bath chemicals :)

Oh wow. Definitely would like to see a review of this beast if that’s at all possible :D The famous squeeze test and maybe some sample photos … ;)

After reviewing the specs (5 megapixel…interpolated. REALLY?), we have a VERY hard time believing that the images will be competitive with even the low end of today’s digital cameras… and definitely not with anything in the $250+ range.

Still…can’t beat the retro-look :-)
