REVIEW- There is something fascinating about the way the body works and how it takes care of itself. Sometimes our bodies need a little help. The Bebird Earsight plus flexible otoscope camera light can improve our ability to take care of our ears, nose, and throat. The small gyroscopic otoscope can help identify and remove foreign objects or just help with upkeep.

Design and features

Growing up my dad would always tell us to “don’t go poking any beans up your nose.” Can you guess how that came to be? Yep. One of my siblings decided to see how far they could push something up their nose. Another time, while camping, a spider crawled into my mom’s ear and needed to be flushed out. There have been so many occasions that the Bebird Earsight plus flexible otoscope camera light would’ve been so handy! It comes with many different attachments that can assist in removing earwax or other foreign objects. Some tiny tweezers are one of the attachments and would be able to grab things. Just remember this doesn’t take the place of a medical professional.

Looking into my children’s ears was mind blowing. They had a contest going to see who had the cleanest ears, and who had the worst ears. We didn’t expect dad to have the worst, and the youngest to have the cleanest.

I tried this on myself first to make sure I felt safe and could figure out what to do before I tried to stick it into someone else’s ears. It took a minute to orient myself with the camera and the way you see everything in your ear. Most of my kids giggled and thought it was super cool, or really disgusting, to be able to watch the camera and see what the inside of their ears looked like. I have one son in particular that would complain about his ears being clogged and that was why I had to keep repeating myself. When I showed him his ear, he could suddenly hear everything I was saying. Ha! By the way, he is actually fine. Just a normal distracted boy.

The app also has some neat features. You can ask for online help, send pictures, or share videos, and get feedback. There is also an elderly mode that makes the text larger, stronger colors, and bigger buttons.

The unit charges with a USB-C, and the battery lasts for quite awhile. Plus it all comes in a cute case and is easily stored.

I made sure to listen to my kids and if they told me it hurt I stopped. Having sick children, especially ones that can’t talk yet, can be a guessing game. Are they teething? Is it their ears? Could it be tummy related? So many possibilities of things that could be wrong. I wouldn’t say I’m excited for one of them to have an earache, but I think that having this camera to look and see the cause of their discomfort would be a pretty satisfying feeling.

Assembly, installation, and setup

Getting started was fairly straightforward. There is a QR code in the instructions that takes you to the app. If you don’t have the instructions, look up bebird in the app store that works with your device. I thought it would be a Bluetooth item, but you actually connect your Wi-Fi to the bebird device. Once the device is one, and blinking, open your Wi-Fi settings and you will see the name of the device. Once you’re connected the light on the end of the camera turns on and an image appears on your screen.

Changing the tip is just a simple twist. The protective covers are different sizes for the ear, nose, or throat.

Final thoughts

It is both fascinating and disgusting to be able to look inside your body. I hope I never have to remove anything from a nose or ear, but being able to look and see the camera on your screen is easier for me and my children. It isn’t as scary as a doctor office, and being able to show and explain what is happening at the same time is a total win. I love the convenient package and all the accessories. I may not use this every day, but I am excited to be able to add this to my medical supplies.

What I like about the Bebird Earsight plus flexible otoscope camera light

  • Connects easily to phone
  • Convenient packaging and storage
  • Multiple tips for different scenarios
  • Protective covers to help look into ears, nose, and throat
  • Long battery life
  • Fun to watch the phone and see what you are feeling
  • Tips twist on and off so my fear of having a tip fall off into my ear is minimal

What needs to be improved?

  • The protective covers don’t fit in the main case with everything else. It would be nice to be able to store them all together
  • Online help is in another country and sometimes takes awhile to get any response
  • The longer the unit is on, the warmer it gets. Not the tips, but the main body of the device
