X-plore by Lonely Cat Games is a file manager application for your Android, Windows or Symbian phone. I tested it on an Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S3, latest OS build from Verizon). The app is completely free with no timed trial or limited functionality. If you find the app useful, you can donate to the developers.
X-plore gives you the ability to connect to your:
- Phone
- microSD card
- Cloud storage (Dropbox, Google drive, Skydrive, etc)
- Picasa image albums
- Supports rar and zip files
- FTP, FTPS, LAN servers
You can copy, move, delete, rename, zip, view (images, audio, video and text), and view SQLite database files (read-only).
What does this all mean? Well in my case, my last phone was an iPhone 4; to load music onto that phone, I would copy the music to my computer, load it into iTunes, and then connect the phone to my computer to sync the music. With my Samsung Galaxy S3 and X-plore, the same operation is done as follows: open X-plore, connect one pane to my NAS (network attached storage), in the other pane connect to my music folder on my external microSD card, and copy the music directly to my phone! Done!

Dave told me about this app, I installed it, tried it and then uninstalled all the other file managers I had on my phone. 🙂
I find its interface overcrowded.
@digi_owl which file manager do you prefer? I just love the fact that I can copy files from my network drive.
I like the way this filemanager works. I don’t have to use tabs, the one screen with showing the source and destination directories are nice. Took a few seconds to get used to the interface, but really easy to use.
