REVIEW – If you’re an Apple fan and have the trifecta of Apple gear – iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods, then check out this review of the ESR Qi2 3-in-1 Apple MagSafe charging station, which chargers them all at the same time and has a little bonus surprise. Let’s check it out.
What is it?
The ESR Qi2 3-in-1 Apple MagSafe charging station is an upright multi-device charger that is Qi2 certified and is designed to charge a MagSafe-compatible iPhone, AirPods, and an Apple Watch.
What’s included?
- ESR Qi2 3-in-1 Apple MagSafe charging station
- Apple Watch travel charger
- USB-C to USB-C charging cable
- AC adapter
Design and features
The ESR Qi2 3-in-1 Apple MagSafe charging station is available in black or white. It has a nicely weighted base with rubber feet that keep the charger from sliding around on a flat surface and also allows one-handed attachment and removal of your iPhone.
The ESR charger has a large magnetic MagSafe charger up top, an Apple AirPods charger below, and…
There is an Apple Watch charger connector on the back. Where is the Apple Watch charger? We’ll discuss that shortly.
The charger’s base and top MagSafe / Apple Watch charger port are plastic, while the support is aluminum.
One of the nicest features of the ESR Qi2 3-in-1 Apple MagSafe charging station is the included Apple Watch travel charger.
This little charger features a magnetic cover for the USB-C connector.
The Apple Watch charger plugs into the back of the ESR Qi2 3-in-1 Apple MagSafe charging station and so that you won’t lose that magnetic cover, the cover posts on the other side. How cool is that?
My Apple Watch charged perfectly with the ESR charger.
My AirPods also charged just fine as well.
Of course, my iPhone 15 Pro Max had no problems fast charging on the ESR Qi2 3-in-1 Apple MagSafe charging station, even with my current favorite case, the Nomad Magnetic Leather Back (watch my video about this case).
I also tested this charger with my OnePlus 12 with the OnePlus 12 Woluki frameless case, and it charged without any issues, although not as fast as the iPhone because the OnePlus 12 does not support Qi2.
Right now the only devices that support Qi2 are the iPhone series 12, 13, 14, and 15.
What’s Qi2?
Qi2 is the latest advancement in wireless charging technology and was developed by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). Qi2 builds upon the original Qi wireless charging standard introduced in 2008. The key benefits of Qi2 wireless charging are:
- Speed – Qi2 charges up to 15W, which is twice as fast as the original Qi standard, which topped out at 7.5W. The faster charging speeds reduce charge times.
- Alignment and efficiency – Qi2 uses a Magnetic Power Profile, similar to Apple’s MagSafe technology, to magnetically align the charging coils between the device and charger. This ensures optimal alignment for efficient power transfer, reducing energy loss and heat buildup.
- Compatibility – Qi2 will be compatible with select iPhone 15, iPhone 14, and iPhone 13 models, as well as other future MagSafe-compatible devices. It is an open industry standard, unlike MagSafe which is proprietary to Apple.
- Safety – Qi2 includes enhanced foreign object detection to ensure only compatible devices are charged, minimizing risks of accidents or damage.
