REVIEW – I’m a data nerd. I like looking back on different aspects of my life to find info and make improvements. Maybe I want to know the last time I cut my hair with the Aircut, or maybe I want to know how my weight fluctuated in the last year. For haircuts, I can check my paper journal, and for my weight, I can check the data from my Withings Body Scan scale, which goes back more than ten years. See, I told you that I was a nerd. And now I can track even more fitness data with the RingConn smart ring on my finger. Let’s take a look.
What is it?
The RingConn smart ring is a wearable fitness tracker that can track your steps, activity, stress, sleep, heart rate, temperature, and more.
What’s included?
- RingConn smart ring
- Portable charging case
- USB cable
- Quick guide
Design and features
The RingConn smart ring is available in Moonlit Silver, as I am showing here, and in Midnight Black and Pale Gold. It’s made of durable titanium with a PVD coating.
A close look at the band reveals a slight squarish shape that you won’t really feel on your finger. You can also see electrical contacts and protruding sensors that will track a variety of health metrics, including Steps, Calories Burned, Activity, Stress, Standing Duration, Heart Rate, SpO2, HRV, Skin Temperature, Respiratory Rate, Duration, Sleep Stages, Movement, Sleep Efficiency, Sleep Stability, and Sleep Score.
With all that tech packed into this ring, you would think it would be huge and uncomfortable, but the RingConn has become “invisible” on my right ring finger in the same way that my wedding band is on my left ring finger. I don’t even notice it, which is perfect because I wear it all day and all night. The only times I remove the RingConn from my finger are when I’m showering, washing my hands, and putting on lotion. Does that mean that the RingConn isn’t waterproof? No, it is IP68/5ATM dustproof and waterproof.
I’ve been wearing the RingConn non-stop since I received it a few weeks ago and it still looks the same way as it did when I took it out of the box. I’ve worked out in it with my TotalGym, picked up limbs and branches in my yard, etc and it’s showing no signs of wear and tear.
The RingConn has amazing battery life. It can last up to 7 days on a full charge! When it needs to be recharged, you can use the portable charging case, which has its own internal 500mAh battery.
When the case is fully charged, it has enough juice to recharge the RingConn up to 18 times, and each charging session only takes 70 – 90 minutes.
If we do a little math, that means that you can go on a trip just with the ring and the charger case and not have to use a cable for up to 126 days. Wow. Seriously, this ring’s battery life is better than any smartwatch, smart band, and smartring I’ve ever tried.
The RingConn app
You knew there would be an app because how could there not be an app? The RingConn app is very comprehensive while being easy to understand and navigate. Even the setup process when you first get your ring is easy. I’ve been switching back and forth between Android phones and the iPhone for the past couple of weeks and had no problems pairing with the OnePlus 12 and Samsung Galaxy S24U. You can also pair with an iPhone and you won’t lose data when you switch back and forth. Yay!
I love the main summary page that packs a lot of info into one screen. Across the top is the last 7 days, so it’s easy to click back and forth to see how you’ve progressed each day. From there you can drill down into Sleep data, Activity data, and Stress data.
If you click the thumbnails above, you’ll see the full-sized scrolling screen for Sleep, Activity, and Stress.
The RingConn smart ring collects a lot of data, and from what I can tell, it’s pretty accurate. When I compare the number of steps to my Apple Watch, the totals are within 100-200 steps of each other. It’s tough to know which device is more accurate. I wear the Apple Watch on my left wrist, and the RingConn is on my right ring finger.
For sleep tracking, the RingConn has accurately detected when I’ve been awake during the night and it’s also detected when I was dreaming (REM sleep). The temperature sensor also seems to work well because it’s noticed when I’ve slept hot the past few days due to still having flannel sheets on the bed when it’s warmed up (AC not on yet).
You can also view Trends by week, month, and year. Trends help me see what my sleep has been like over a period of time vs my stress levels, activity, etc. Putting all this info together can give you a good idea of how to improve different aspects of your life/health.
In the past couple of days, the RingConn app received an update that added some new features. One is badges, which I could really care less about, but the other feature is workout tracking. Right now, they only have outdoor running, but they will soon have outdoor walks, indoor running, and outdoor cycling. I hope they also add indoor walks because I do a lot of my walking inside on a treadmill. The only downside is that you have to go into the app to start a session manually. The ring isn’t currently able to detect specific activities and record them automatically.
Other RingConn features worth noting
- For those of you who like to sync with other health apps, RingConn can sync with Google Fit.
- There is a sedentary reminder that can be used to get up and move if you haven’t done so in the last 50 minutes.
- You can set a heart rate alert to set a maximum heart rate and alert you when it has been at that level for more than 10 minutes.
- Can sync with Google Fit and Apple Health
What I like about the RingConn smart ring
- Crazy long battery life
- Loads of tracking
- App layout and info are great
- No subscriptions required! Yay!
What needs to be improved?
- Adding some type of clock display would be AMAZING
- Stairs/flights tracking would be nice
- Automatically add workout detection
Final thoughts
I have been very impressed with the RingConn smart ring. My experience so far has been one of set it and forget it because it’s been rock solid in the way it collects data, has excellent battery life, etc. The fact that you can buy this ring and not have to pay an additional monthly subscription fee is also great. If they would add some way of displaying the time of day and automatically detecting activity/workouts, I’d change my 99% awesome rating for this smart ring to 100% awesome. 😉 If they could do that, I’d ditch my Apple watch, and the RingConn would be my only fitness tracker because I like it that much.

I want to know what sensors it has. SENSORS as opposed to apps that manipulate the inputs.
It has:
Photoplethysmography (PPG) Sensor × 4
Temperature Sensor × 4
3D Accelerometer
Low Power Bluetooth Module
