I know this is a gadget blog, but most of us who love gadgets also love science fiction. Microsoft just announced the release of an anthology of short stories written by contemporary science fiction greats such as Elizabeth Bear, Greg Bear, David Brin, and Ann Leckie.
To provide inspiration for the stories, Microsoft let the authors go inside its research labs and talk with researchers working on cutting-edge technologies. Their mission was to craft new works that predict the near-future of technology and examine its complex relationship to our core humanity. The stories explore topics such as prediction science, quantum computing, real-time translation, and machine learning.
The anthology is free and is available at the following locations:
- Amazon
- Amazon (International Sites)
- Barnes and Noble
- iBooks
- Kobo
For more information about the anthology, visit Microsoft Future Visons. I just downloaded my copy and can’t wait to get started.

Any particular reason why there’s no link to Barnes and Noble?
Here’s the link for those interested: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/future-visions-elizabeth-bear/1122956314
Thanks for adding the link. Looks like the Barnes and Noble link didn’t come through when I copied the links over.
