If you liked the looks of the aluminum Joule iPad stand from ElementCASE (reviewed by Julie last year) but couldn’t justify the high price, take a look at the Nantucket iPad Stand from Levenger. The Nantucket iPad Stand is made of solid bamboo, and it’s 7.75″ long with a 2″ diameter. There’s only a single hole for the bamboo peg, so the iPad will be held at only one angle. However, it can hold the iPad in either the horizontal or vertical position. As you can see from the picture, it can work with other devices, like a Kindle. It comes with a travel pouch. The Nantucket iPad Stand is $25 from Levenger.

Looks like you could go to Home Depot and build it yourself for about $2 max from 2 pieces of doweling. You would even have enough doweling left over to build a few more to give to your friends as gifts. You could also drill more than one hole in the 2″ dowel so you could have a choice of viewing angle.
Some wood and tech combo just doesn’t work…the iPad is all sleek and svelte where the stand is all Pinocchio looking.
@RainyDayInterns Ha! 🙂 I love the pinocchio comment. But hey, what about the Scott Snyder wooden iPad stand? It’s gorgeous and not too Pinochhio-y

LOL
When you have a second look, it indeed does look a little as Pinocchio.
