With all the portable Bluetooth speakers reproducing like rabbits, market leader Jawbone can’t afford to sit by and just watch. And they haven’t. Jawbone has introduced the newest member of the JAMBOX clan, the JAMBOX MINI. This speaker is about half the width of the original JAMBOX. and the sound quality is a bit shy of its larger brother. However,  that’s not the point of the MINI. It’s made to be very portable; in fact, you can put it in a pocket, something you can’t easily do with the original. Inside its nine-ounce package, an airtight enclosure features two neodymium drivers and a passive bass radiator to produce high quality sound for its size. LiveAudio – Jawbone’s three-dimensional listening mode – is included.

The MINI doubles as a speakerphone, has Bluetooth (of course), an aluminum shell, and 10 hours of continuous playback from a built-in, rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Many colors and speaker grill patterns are available. A free Jawbone application for iOS and Android lets you customize playlists from a smartphone. Add iTunes, Rdio, or Spotify libraries to the app to access playlists in one place. The app also lets you personalize the name of the MINI JAMBOX with 11 voices and 8 language options. The MINI JAMBOX sells for $179.99 and will be available in late September.
