Smartfish the maker of the Whirl Desktop Laser Mouse has introduced a keyboard companion, the Engage Keyboard with ErgoMotion. The keyboard uses the ErgoMotion technology that prevents Repetitive Stress Injury. The Engage Keyboard with ErgoMotion tracks the user’s work pattern and makes incremental changes to itself so the user’s hands and wrists are never in a static position while typing. This is different from traditional ergonomic products that try to find the best position for your hands. As a person that spends a lot of time behind the keyboard, I could certainly appreciate this product. Watch the video after the jump.

I see real irony with a keyboard that boasts of its ergonomics but which has extremely low contrast key legends that are certainly not visually ergonomic. I’m guessing that the key legends are surface printed, and if so they’ll wear off. I personally find illuminated keys very useful, and illuminated key legends are double-shot molded so they can’t wear off. At $150, I’d want a keyboard that delivers more than just variable hand positions.
Just as BJN, said I too like illuminated keyboards – hence why I have a Dell Precision M4400 at work and an Apple notebook at home that both have illuminated keyboards. Also, this Smartfish Keyboard has to be Apple as well as Microsoft compatible. Right now the website says Microsoft only.
