NEWS – Winter is coming and with it, colder temperatures. I love getting cozy on the couch, watching a good movie, or reading a good book. In order to get cozy, I use a blanket, but it’s not as high tech as the Jartoo blanket that will be launching on Kickstarter very soon.

What is it?

The Jartoo blanket is the world’s first blanket to use Areo carbon nanotube tech to provide far-infrared heat.

Why do I like it?

If the Jartoo lives up to the claims, it sounds like it will take coziness to the next level. First of all, it will heat up in only one minute. If you’ve ever used a traditional heating pad, you know achieving maximum heat can take a while because they use wires between the layers of the blanket. But the Jartoo uses a low voltage honeycombed array of nanowires for even heating edge to edge. If you’re worried about the tech, it’s low voltage and uses 60% less power than similar heating blankets. Far-infrared heating has other benefits. This type of light is said to help provide pain relief from muscle soreness.

The 50 x 60-inch blanket has a soft, velvety feel and is also antistatic and washable. It has six heating levels, from 95°F to 131°F, to get you toasty quickly! The blanket has a button built into it for control, but it also comes with a wireless remote with a sleep timer.

Where can I find more info?

The Kickstarter campaign for the Jartoo blanket hasn’t launched yet, but they are telling me that the plan is to launch at the beginning of November. Although you can’t pledge yet, you can go to their teaser page and sign up for their email list. Why would you want to do this? You’ll be able to pay $1 to secure the $109 special price (60% off) for the Jartoo blanket and you’ll also receive a free remote control.

  2. I have used a similar blanket for many years filled with down from Eddie Bauer for around $60. It captures my body heat and keeps me warm. When it gets really cold I turn on my Sunbeam electric pad that covers my whole bed under the sheets.
