REVIEW – Do you rely on air fresheners to mask everyday odors in your home from cooking, pets, etc? A better alternative for fresher/healthier air in your home is an air purifier. Today I’m going to show you the Greentech pureAir Active HEPA+ with ODOGard Room air purifier. Take a deep breath and read on.

The Greentech pureAir Active HEPA+ with ODOGard Room is an air purifier that uses active and passive air purification technology as well as odor-eliminating ODOGard tech.

Design and features
The Greentech pureAir Active HEPA+ with ODOGard Room air purifier is available in two sizes that include the Room size which was sent to me to review and a Pro size. The Room model is designed to cover a 375 sq ft area and the Pro model can cover up to a 1375 sq ft area.
Both units feature a white and charcoal colored plastic case with no gaudy branding or logos plastered all over it. The Room version is 10.6″ x 10.6″ x 17.5″ so it’s not too big or too small.
The top surface of the unit has a large touch control panel surrounded by air vent fins. I’ll talk more about the touch interface below.
The back of the unit has a nice handle that makes it easy to move from room to room. There’s also an attached power cord.
There’s a button on the back that allows the unit to open to provide access to the filters.

Here’s a view of the bottom of the Greentech pureAir where you can see the two replaceable filters. The large circular filter is the HEPA filter and the center filter is the PCO cell.
The smaller PCO cell lifts out of the center of the unit. What’s a PCO cell? GreenTech says:
Photocatalytic Oxidation (PCO) uses UV energy as a catalyst to turn moisture in the air into active purifying products.
The larger circular HEPA filter can also be removed and replaced. Yeah, I know what you’re probably thinking… How much will replacement filters cost for this air purifier and how often will they need to be replaced? The HEPA filter will need to be replaced annually in most cases and is priced at $89. The PCO Cell should also be replaced every year and it is priced at $129. The warranty of the unit itself is 10 years.
Other consumables are the BPI module brushes (not pictured). Luckily, if you register the unit’s warranty, you’ll receive these brushes yearly, at no cost, for the full warranty length of 10 years.
When you plug in the Greentech pureAir Active HEPA+ with ODOGard Room air purifier and tap the power button on the touch interface, it will power on in Fan mode. Pressing the Fan Speed Button (Fan icon) will cycle through 5 fan speeds (Low, Med-Low, Medium, Med-High, High).
Pressing the AUTO button will switch to the auto air purifying mode. The display shows the air quality in large letters along with the bright LED behind it. If the air quality is good, you’ll see the word GOOD on the display and the LED will be green, it will change to FAIR and yellow, or POOR and red if the air quality decreases.
Pressing the gear button toggles through various stats including Temperature which shows the current room temperature, Humidity, Filter Life – % Remaining, PCO Cell Life – % Remaining, and BPI Module Life – % Remaining.
At one point my review unit reported that the air quality in the room was FAIR. At that point, the fan kicked up in speed for a short time and then the air quality changed back to GOOD. I have yet to see it change to POOR/red.
The GreenTech app
Another feature of this air purifier is the ability to control it through an app. Using the GreenTech app isn’t necessary, but it does provide some extra features like the ability to schedule the unit to switch sleep mode which causes the control panel and LEDs dim.
The app also allows you to see the status of the HEPA filter, PCO cell, and BPI module.
What I like
- Easy to use
- Quiet
- The air smells noticeably fresher
- The app allows for scheduling sleep mode
What I’d change
- Other than the unit price and having to buy replacement filters, this is a very nice air purifier
Final thoughts
The GreenTech PureAir Room air purifiers are designed to reduce VOCs (volatile organic compounds), allergens like pollen and pet dander, and odors caused by mold, bacteria, and other pollutants. It’s even proven to inactivate 99.98% of SARS-CoV-2 (which causes the COVID-19 virus) from the air. I really have no way to test those claims, but I can say that I have noticed that it clears cooking smells quicker than other air purifiers that I’ve used in the past. The air also smells noticeably fresher when it’s running and it is quieter than my previous air purifiers. If you can get past the price of the unit and the consumables, I think this is one of the nicest air purifiers that I’ve reviewed so far.
