REVIEW – Today, I want to show you the Cabletime 8-in-1 iPad Hub, which will turn your iPad into an extra display for your desktop computer or will elevate your iPad (or other tablet) to a better angle so you can use it as your main computer. Let’s take a closer look.
What is it?
The Cabletime 8-in-1 iPad Hub is a stand for tablets that offers past through charging, and additional ports.
What’s in the box?

Design and features
The Cabletime 8-in-1 iPad Hub folds flat for storage or transport. The bottom houses a braided USB-C cable with a right angle plug.
The idea is that you plug the attached cable into your iPad or Android tablet to expand it with a variety of additional ports.
These ports include:
- HDMI (supports resolutions up to 4K@60Hz (4096×2160))
- USB-C PD with support for up to 100W input
- USB-C data port
- 2 USB 3.0 data ports
- Audio (3.5mm)
- SD/microSD card reader
The base and tablet stand are made of aluminum. The stand unfolds with a bit of effort as it’s really tight, which I suppose is a good thing. There are two hinges, so you can customize the angle. You can’t adjust the height, though.
The stand rotates on the base with a satisfying mechanical click click ratchet noise.
The Cabletime 8-in-1 iPad Hub’s base isn’t very heavy, so it’s important that you adjust the angle of the stand so that your tablet won’t make it top heavy and tip over or backward.
I tested the Cabletime 8-in-1 iPad Hub with my 14-inch M3 MacBook Pro and my embarrassingly large DELL ultrawide monitor.
By attaching an HDMI cable (not included with the Cabletime 8-in-1 iPad Hub), I could immediately use it to mirror my iPad Pro.
I was also able to use it as an extended display for the iPad Pro along with pairing my Logitech MX Master 3S mouse and Keydous NJ80-AP mechanical keyboard. Don’t forget the all-important Waterloo Grape seltzer!
I also tested the Cabletime 8-in-1 iPad Hub by plugging in a wired keyboard, SD cards, microSD cards, the ORICO ClearLink SSD, and more. Everything I threw at it worked as expected.
See it in action
What I like
- Expands your iPad or Android tablet with extra ports at an affordable price
- Rotating stand
What I’d change
- The base needs to be heavier
Final thoughts
The Cabletime 8-in-1 iPad Hub works great as long as you remember that the base isn’t very heavy. If you pay attention to the angle of the tablet/iPad so it isn’t too tippy, this hub works fine and adds a lot of ports for expansion.
