REVIEW – I’ve been a multi-monitor fanatic since somewhere around 1998. Whether it’s browsing the web, researching, or writing code, nothing beats screen real estate. Design and features
The Lepow monitor is a versatile monitor that can be connected in two ways. The first method uses a USB Type-C connection to a device that includes a full-featured USB Type-C port that supports power and video. The second method uses either the USB-A to Type-C or a Type-C cable to supply power and a Mini-HDMI input for the video.
The Lepow monitor includes cables for all of these connections and even includes a power adaptor if you need to power the monitor separately. Functionally, they work identically.
The monitor includes a soft cover that doubles as a stand. However, I found that it is a bit limiting in that it only adjusts to one angle. The soft cover also does not detach, making it more challenging to use with your own stand if you have one. It does work nicely for covering the screen while transporting it, though.
The IPS display panel is fabulous in regards to display appearance. A 178° wide viewing angle ensures an easily readable display at almost any angle. The monitor can be used in a portrait orientation as well. The rear ports also ensure easy use in either landscape or portrait orientations, as well as hiding the cables from view.
The 1080p Full HD display includes a contrast ratio of 1000:1, ensuring plenty of brightness. The picture is vivid and looks great. The screen does have a glossy finish, something that I don’t care for, but something I can live with for a secondary display.
I didn’t care for the power button is a press and hold type. I would much prefer an on/off click type of switch. It took a little getting used to turning it on. The LED power light is inside the unit and can only be seen when looking at just the right angle. I would prefer a much more visible power LED.
What I like
- Excellent display quality
- Very nice port configuration
What needs to be improved
- A removable smart cover would be nice
- Front or side power LED would be nice
Final thoughts
Overall, the Lepow 14 inch portable monitor is a very nice addition to my mobile computing strategy. The display is small enough to fit in my laptop bag, and will surely be going with me everywhere.

Thanks for this review. I had one of these monitors gifted to me and I really liked it at first. The refresh started to seem like it had problems not long after consistent use so I was trying to find advice. Have you had any similar reports?
