NEWS β You may have missed this one over the holidays, but Tom Bihn released a whole bunch of new stuff in December. Iβm particularly interested in the Icon Messenger, which is Tom Bihnβs first all-new messenger-style design in quite a while.
With a 7.2 liter capacity, the Icon is a shoulder/crossbody bag sized up for your daily essentials. What makes it interesting is the innovative design elements intended to optimize overall usability. Simple curved zips enable quick access to all the compartments for quick access, eliminating flaps and buckles that can lead to awkward fumbling to get to your gear. Itβs also got what Tom Bihn called a βrabbit holeβ design to collect any extra strappage leftover after you adjust the strap length to your needs in a pocket designed specifically for this purpose. The front pocket has slots for pens and phones, and Tomβs O-rings are positioned in each compartment so that you can tether a variety of pouches or straps for extra organization. The bag comes with one 8β³ snap hook strap so that you can corral your keys from the get-go. As always, youβll be getting the quality and durability that makes Tom Bihn a legend in the carry community.
I see this bag as a great little EDC bag, and Iβm hoping these elements carry over into new larger messenger bag designs as well. Tom Bihn made some great all-purpose messengers back in the day, and weβre ready for an update. (Tom? Are you listening?)
The December updates included a number of new pouches and tote-style bags, including a firewood carrier. You can check out the news update here.Β The Icon messenger is on sale now, and is priced at a super budget-friendly $75. Go to the Icon product page for more info!

I was all excited when I saw your post but after looking at the bag, I am still happy with my Maker bag. I don’t care for the zippered main compartment on the Icon. I like a flap π
