CROWDFUNDED NEWS – Craftmotif is a pen whose styling evokes images straight out of the era of “The Right Stuff”—the early days of air travel and the aerospace industry.
Why do I like it?
I like Craftmotif because it is a pen whose styling represents a bygone era in aviation history that is very near and dear to me, the early adventurous days of air travel and the beginnings of what would become the aerospace industry. With its sleek, contoured silver, solid aerospace-grade 6061-T6 aluminum body, it bears a resemblance to the Douglas DC-3, one of the earliest commercial passenger aircraft. It includes a tail fin with hand-applied, retro-theme enamel roundel details and its grip even has a bit of an aircraft feel. Its writing mechanism is soft twist-action, and although it includes a reliable and classic Schmidt MINE S635 D1 ballpoint with a five-pack of black or blue cartridges, it can easily be replaced and will accept any standard D1 refill cartridge. As if all that weren’t enough, Craftmotif also includes a magnetic display stand and a leather storage sleeve. Craftmotif is available in the following combinations:
- Polished Body/Yellow Tail Roundel with black storage sleeve
- Brushed Body/Blue Tail Roundel with light gray storage sleeve
- Tumbled Body/Red Tail Roundel with dark gray storage sleeve

The Craftmotif pen campaign ends on October 10, 2019 and they have already met their funding goal of $6,783. Pledge packages start at ~$51 USD for a single Craftmotif pen.
