maplexo iphone4We are avid recyclers are our house. We save #1 and #2 plastics, soda cans, tin cans, glass, paper and cardboard. I wish my local recycle center accepted even more types of plastic; but if they accept it, we recycle it. That’s why I love it when people reuse old worn out and broken items for purposes other than what they were originally meant for. Remember the Grove Bamboo iPhone Case? Now Grove has partnered with a one woman company MapleXO to bring you an iPhone 4 case made from old wooden skateboards. 300 old skateboards are stacked up, glued and sliced into thin sheets of material that Grove then fashions into cases for the iPhone 4. Forty of the cases were sold on Grove’s website beginning at noon on Monday, February 21st for $200 each and sold out in less than ten minutes. The remaining ten cases are being auctioned off on eBay with 50% of the proceeds being donated to the Oregon Humane Society with one of the cases already selling for $810. I wouldn’t spend $810 on an iPhone case, but I respect what they are doing to recycle and give back to a good cause.
