Infinacore T3 3

REVIEW – The curse of having technology that you carry around everywhere is that you eventually have to park it somewhere to charge it. (Well, unless you want to also carry a battery pack around! Hey, no judgment! I’ve been that guy.) If you have a desk, table, or nightstand where you sit your devices for any time to let them charge, you have probably considered a multi-charger – something to top up your phone, watch, earbuds, etc. With the advent of MagSafe/Qi2, it’s speedy and efficient to plop these devices onto a wireless charger instead of having to fish the cable out from under the table where it fell. Infinicore, a NYC-based maker of many charging products, recently released a new integrated tabletop model, their T3 Pro: 3-in-1 Qi2 Charging Stand. They sent one to The Gadgeteer for testing, and I’m here to give you the skinny – in a New York minute!

Design and features

The Infinicore T3 Pro is a solid metal stand 5” tall and 2.5” wide. It rises from the table 5” at a 65º angle (24º from vertical). On this upright is a round MagSafe/Qi2 charging pad. This upper arm extends back from the top parallel to the table for 2”, and contains an Apple Watch pad. (Even though their marketing materials state it is for iWatch, I’m unaware of any product that uses that name.)

Behind the main arm is a platform 3.5” x 2.5” that has another Qi2/MagSafe charging coil. This is designed for use with AirPods but could be used by another phone or any other MagSafe/Qi2 device. In the rear center of this pad is the USB-C attachment port. Along the right side as you view the main upright there are three blue LEDs that light up when a device connects to the associated charging pad. The light goes out after a second or two.

The stand comes in four colorways. I was sent the “Blue Steel.” (Apt, I must say!) Other options are Silver Crest, Black Frost, and Gold Luxe. I defy you to tell the difference between the Blue Steel and Black Frost.

Assembly, Installation, Setup

Setup for the Infinicore T3 Pro charging stand is simple: connect the included USB-C cable to a charger. The higher the power level charger you connect, the faster your devices will charge.

Performance

I attached the Infinicore T3 Pro to an Apple 20-watt charger. The cable fits easily into the charger port and the power adapter. Sometimes when I would attach my phone, however, I wouldn’t get the little “bloop” that lets me know it is charging. Reseating the cable made it charge. This happened several times, even though I was not moving the stand or unplugging it. I wasn’t sure if it was a bad cable or what. But it finally stopped happening and things now reliably charge when placed on the stand.
The LEDs were a problem for some folks in online reviews who use this by their bed, but on the unit I had, the lights only stayed on for a second or two to indicate that the device was correctly placed on the charging pads.

Final thoughts

When smartphones first arrived on the scene, everyone was horrified that they would have to charge the devices once a day (or more). Of course, they wouldn’t put them down for two minutes to let it catch its electronic breath, but they wanted it always charged and ready, even when it never left their hand. Developers of charging products sprang up to fill that need, and today, you can find chargers in many shapes, sizes, and power configurations. Infinacore has several similar products, one of which I reviewed last year.

They are continuing the tradition with this charging stand. I love this desk stand. Always there, always ready to let you charge whatever needs power. When this device arrived, I had one that wasn’t MagSafe, it just had a little shelf on it to hold the phone at the correct height for the Qi pad inside. This one is faster and more stable. One place to charge everything? Say less.
