REVIEW – I’ve enjoyed using an ultra-wide 49-inch monitor for a few years now, but I have been curious about vertical monitors. Design and features
The UPERFECT UStation Delta Max is a portable monitor, but that doesn’t mean it’s small, because it’s not. But it should fit in a regular sized backpack.
When folded, the screens are fully protected.
The back side of the monitor has a VESA mount on the bottom monitor.
NOTE: Although the manual for this monitor says that this is a standard VESA mount that needs M4 screws, the screw holes in the back of the monitor are actually larger than M4 screws. To attach a standard VESA mount, you’ll need to source larger screws and drill larger holes in the VESA mount.
There is a folding kickstand on the back of the UPERFECT UStation Delta Max. The stand has rubber feet to keep the monitor from sliding around on your desk.
The right edge of the bottom screen has all of the power and settings control buttons.
On the opposite edge are all the power and video connections to a computer. Note that the UPERFECT UStation Delta Max is really two monitors, so you can use it as one large monitor or two separate monitors. You can even connect the monitor to two different devices. For example, you can connect one monitor to a laptop and the other to your gaming system.
Having two vertical screens means you don’t have to move your head from side to side to see everything because everything is right in front of you.
The monitor can be used at different angles, which makes it very versatile. From slightly angled like you see above.
It can be used almost fully straight up and down. However, you have to be careful with it at this angle because the kickstand isn’t fully opened. To be safe, you should use a VESA mount/stand.
And you can even use it tented for sharing presentations during meetings.
However you decide to use it, the kickstand provides a sturdy base, and I was never worried that the monitor would topple over (except when the monitors were fully unfolded).
Setting up the UPERFECT UStation Delta Max folding monitor
Here’s a before image of my desk. Yes, I already have a massive ultra-wide screen 49-inch monitor. But no one ever said that having too much screen real estate is a bad thing. So let’s add the UPERFECT UStation folding monitor!
This monitor makes me feel like I’m a hacker or something 😉 Now I just need another one on the other side to be extra extra!
I immediately noticed one gotcha. The cabling design leaves a lot to be desired. The cables sticking out the edge of the screen just looks bad. It doesn’t have that clean look that I always try to achieve.
Image quality and modes
The built-in modes allow you to set the monitor to a few different display modes: clone, expansion, sequence, and stand alone.
I did my testing of the UPERFECT with my 14 inch MacBook Pro and the KHADAS mini PC. I tested it using a one cable connection using the included USB-C to USB-C cable and I also tested it using the USB-C to power along with the mini HDMI to HDMI cable.
Using just one cable (USB-C) plugged into the MacBook or mini PC worked, but both screens were too dim for my preference. Then when I tried to up the brightness past 50%, the monitor shut down because there wasn’t enough power.
Plugging the USB-C cable into an outlet using the included AC adapter and a second cable (HDMI or USB-C) to the computer worked prefectly.
The monitor has a max resolution of 1920 * 1080 so it’s not going to blow your socks off like a 4K monitor. I’m not a gamer so I can’t talk about how well this monitor will work/look for action games. But it does look good for everyday use. I have mainly used it to park my Apple Messages app, Telegram, Todoist, and Apple Notes which are all static text apps. I did test it watching YouTube videos and editing photos using Photoshop and have no complaints.
I tried all the modes, but I mainly tested the monitor in extended (expansion) mode.
What I like about the UPERFECT UStation Delta Max
- Extra screen real estate that takes up less space on your desk than a traditional monitor
- Plug and play – no drivers need even on a Mac
- Multiple viewing angles
- VESA mount
- Portable
What needs to be improved?
- I’d rather have the connections on the back of the monitor instead of the side
- Include right angle cables or adapters to clean up the cabling
- A 4K version would be awesome
Final thoughts
The UPERFECT UStation Delta Max has been a great addition to my desk setup. Even though it isn’t a 4K monitor, it’s great for everything I do, and it’s been a great side monitor for my text-based apps while I save my front and center monitor for other things. With the ability to change the viewing angles and the fact that it takes up less space in the vertical orientation. I think the UStation Delta Max is a real winner.

Man, not having the cables hidden in the back is a major buzzkill. Otherwise looks very nice.
It’s possible to mitigate the ugly with a right angle adapter. I believe UPERFECT even sells one – separately.
