REVIEW – Wow! When Chuck of Nomadgoods emailed me about this new “case” for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, my first thought was, “This is genius!” I can’t believe it’s taken this long for someone to come up with an ultra-thin magnetic back for the iPhone. But here we are, and I am lucky enough to review one of the first ones. Let’s take a look!
What is it?
The NOMAD Magnetic Leather Back is an ultra-thin vegetable-tanned Horween leather protective cover for the back of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.

Design and features
The NOMAD Magnetic Leather Back is available in either Rustic Brown or Black. I was sent the Brown version and it’s pretty much perfect in all ways – it even smells great!
It’s made from Horween leather from the USA, which has been precision-cut to keep your iPhone as sleek as ever but with just a bit extra protection and sophistication. Like with all leather products, they will only get better with time as they develop a patina.
The inside of the NOMAD Magnetic Leather Back is lined with a soft microfiber. The cover has a magnetic ring embedded in the case that allows for easy attachment to the back of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. Three extra micro-suction pads can be used to increase the “stickiness” of the cover to the back of the iPhone.
I didn’t even use the micro-suction pads and had no problems with the cover detaching by accident during my brief testing so far. However, without using the micro-suction pads, the bottom edge of the cover did and could slide back and forth a bit in hand.
The NOMAD Magnetic Leather Back has a thin fiberglass body that is rigid yet slightly flexible. It is only 2.05mm thick, so it won’t add any ugly bulk to your iPhone.
This is the easiest case/cover that you’ve ever put on your iPhone, and it’s just as easy to remove.
Since the NOMAD Magnetic Leather Back only sticks to the back of the iPhone, you don’t have to worry about it covering any ports, speakers, or microphones.
This cover doesn’t add much protection to your iPhone other than protecting the back from scratches and scuffs and protecting the cameras with its raised polycarbonate ring.

Final thoughts
I’ve enjoyed using DBrand skins on some of my phones in the past, but the Magnetic Leather Back from NOMAD takes the skin idea to the next level, making it easier than before. This type of cover could become like watch bands are to the Apple Watch, a new way to customize your phone with your outfit or mood. I’m really digging it, if you can’t tell! I know what you mean. I’m currently on a hiatus from the iPhone and it makes me want to switch back! Ha!
I am assuming you can still charge the phone wirelessly with this on or do you have to remove it to use a magsafe charger?
You can still charge wirelessly as it’s still MagSafe compatible with the cover in place.
