REVIEW – Some time ago I reviewed the MECOOL KM7 Android TV box and I liked it and have been using it ever since. In my home, we tend to have frequent movie nights, and having options to be able to view a variety of content makes the experience that much better, Now I am going to check out this MECOOL KM2 PLUS Deluxe TV Box to see if I like it just as much.

The MECOOL KM2 PLUS Deluxe TV Box is a small, slim, lightweight box that is made of plastic. On the top, there is the branding and a transparent cover and on the bottom, there are rubber feet and venting. On the front edge, there are the LED indicator lights and on the back edge, there are the IR, Optical, AV, HDMI, Ethernet, and DC power ports. On one of the side edges, there are the media ports that include 2 USB ports and a micro SD card slot. A full-featured remote control is included. (See photos below).
Setup
Setting up the MECOOL KM2 PLUS Deluxe TV Box is straightforward; all that is needed is to follow the onscreen prompts. In my case, I connected to my network via an ethernet cable which is always my preference over a wireless connection. The entire setup process took several minutes, but it was still relatively quick.
Much to my dismay, batteries for the remote were not included, so I had to find my own:
Here are a few screenshots from the process:
Performance
The MECOOL KM2 PLUS Deluxe TV Box performs very well and does not disappoint. As I mentioned in the section above, the setup process was straightforward. Once completed, I tested the various options, which are too many to show here in this review. For this showcase, I chose to show the Google Play options that allow me to watch movies from so many different categories. This is usually where we would look for something to watch on our movie nights. Lots of categories and choices. I also tested some of my media via the micro SD card and a USB flash drive. The process was also flawless, regardless of the file sizes. This box is very capable, and the video resolution looks stunning. I even tested some underwater 4K videos to see how it played them back, and it did a fantastic job. I also hooked it up to a decent soundbar, and that was enjoyable. The sound quality is partially dependent on the audio equipment being used.
The following short video shows a bit of the resolution and quality. Due to copyright rules, I muted the audio:
What I like
- The simple and sleek design
- It is lightweight and very portable
- The design includes nice connectivity options
- The video resolution is awesome
- It is easy to set up and use
- It is powerful enough to play large 4K files
What I’d change
- Batteries for the remote control should be included
Final thoughts
The MECOOL KM2 PLUS Deluxe TV Box is an attractive and sleek TV box that performs well and has enough built-in power to manage video playback well. The resolution it produces is beautiful and the ability to watch my media via the 2 USB ports or the SD card slot is great. The full-featured remote is a plus. I do not use Chromecast but that is a nice included feature. Well done.

Looks like this is the week for malware. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. We will check the Android TVs that we’ve reviewed (if we still have them hooked up) and will add a notice if we find that they are not certified and for future off-brand Android device reviews, we’ll make this a test that we’ll report a passing or failing grade.
