REVIEW – The best part about getting a new phone is that you also get to buy new “clothes” for it. I recently bought the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. I haven’t decided if I’m actually going to keep it yet, but until I do, I need a way to protect it from everyday wear and tear. My all-time favorite case maker is PITAKA and they were kind enough to offer to send me their MagEZ Case 3 cases for the new series of Samsung Galaxy S23 phones. Let’s check them out.
What is it?
The PITAKA MagEZ Case 3 for Samsung Galaxy S23 phones are thin (0.95mm) lightweight cases made of 600D Aramid fiber with embedded magnets that make them MagSafe compatible.
PITAKA sent me 3 of their cases, one for each of the new Samsung Galaxy S23 phones. I didn’t purchase all three phones because I’m not that crazy. So I’ll be focusing on the MagEZ Case 3 for the S23 Ultra.
Design and features
The PITAKA MagEZ Case 3 for the Samsung Galaxy S23 that was sent to me for review, has a really cool fusion weaving pattern both in the entire back of the case and in the decorative strip that extends from the bottom of the camera lenses down the length of the case.
I think the case is a real stunner. The case has a matte finish that will show grease, but it’s easy to clean with a damp cloth. I’ve been using one on my iPhone 13 Pro Max for over a year and it still looks good as new.
The sides of the case are shallow and don’t wrap completely around the sides of the phone. That’s fine by me because it allows easy access to the buttons without the need for cutouts or buttons molded into the case itself.
The MagEZ cases are also compatible with MagSafe accessories. Yes, I know that the Samsung Galaxy series of phones are not iPhones, but with these cases, you can use MagSafe accessories with your S23. Accessories like chargers, wallets, etc.
Unlike so many other cases on the market, PITAKA cases are very easy to insert and remove the phone from the case.
It doesn’t even look like I have a case on the phone at all, does it? That’s just how thin the PITAKA case is and I like it.
Here’s a side view where you can see how high up the sides of the case comes. It doesn’t interfere with the buttons at all.
Unlike the sides, the bottom of the PITAKA case covers the majority of the bottom of the phone. The only open/uncovered area is around the charging port. There’s also a cutout for the speaker and stylus slot.
The top of the case is entirely protected with a tiny hole for the microphone.
A raised frame around the 3 main lenses provides a bit of protection when you lay the case flat on its back. From what I can tell, the rest of the case is raised a bit to protect the other two smaller lenses and flash. The top and bottom edges of the PITAKA MagEZ 3 case also allow for a slight offset of the display so that when placed flat down, it doesn’t touch the surface that it’s laying on.
What I like
- Thin and lightweight
- Looks awesome
- Allows access to ports and buttons while also providing protection
What I’d change
- I can’t think of anything
Final thoughts
I can’t say enough good things about PITAKA cases. I’ve been using them for years and have never had an issue. If you want to protect your phone from everyday wear and tear all while looking great, then you won’t go wrong with a PITAKA case. Now I just have to make up my mind if I’m going to keep the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra! 🙂

My pitaka case came in a couple of days ago and for some crazy reason the magnets just don’t work, I know it sounds crazy butt they are going to replace it I suppose, other than that I really do love the cases.
That is weird but it’s good that they are going to replace the case. Let me know what you think of it once you get one that works 🙂
