HoverDock for Apple Watch review

Ever since I’ve purchased the Apple Watch, I’ve been wanting a stand for it that helps me charge it easily and display it on my desk, since the cable it comes with can be hard to find in a messy space. The HoverDock by Just Mobile is a low-profile charging stand that has integrated support for Apple Watch’s magnetic charging cable, and also doubles as a bedside alarm clock. Let’s take a look.Note: Images can be clicked on to view a larger size.

The HoverDock is a very simply designed but well made, Apple Watch dock made of a unibody aluminum block.  The dimensions measure 1.36″ high and 3.7″ in diameter.  It’s very lightweight at 3.7 oz.

The top is made of a lightweight plastic that is soft to the touch, with a hollow center.

The HoverDock comes apart so that you can re-assemble it with the Apple charging cable.

Here’s a shot of what will be the “front” of the HoverDock. All you need to do is feed through the Apple charging cable, and it stays snug in the slot.

The inside is hollow with room for the cable to twist inside until you get the ideal length of the cable.

After wrapping the cable a bit, you just snap on the bottom half of the dock. It spins easily so you can make the cord a bit shorter if needed, since the Apple charging cable is already so long. The bottom of the dock also has a nice rubberized feel, so it doesn’t slip off the desk.

Here is the HoverDock completely assembled.  The magnetic part of the charging cable stands up with enough resistance to stay put.

As soon as the Apple Watch docks, it goes into nightstand mode, which means the clock show bigger numbers, and the date is displayed underneath.

You can see that the magnetic charging portion of the cable stays put and is hidden on the back of the watch.

No matter which Apple Watch model you have, the aluminum base of the Just Mobile HoverDock gives a clean look on nightstand or desk. It’s really useful if you are constantly looking for your cable each night when you need to charge up your Apple Watch.  Having a dock is very convenient, especially if you have alarms set on your Apple Watch to wake up in the morning.
