The LaCie Sphere – designed, handcrafted, and silver plated by Cristofle’s workshop in France – is a 1TB USB 3.0 hard drive that is stunning as well as practical. It comes with a software suite that will allow you to set up automatic backups for your computer (PC and Mac) and ensure that your files are password protected using the LaCie Private-Public software. This hard drive is also powered through the USB cable and therefore, does not need an additional power cord. Furthermore, when it is idle, it enters an automatic Eco Mode thus using 90% less energy. Like any designer gear, this is expensive and will cost you $490 from LaCie, but it is sure to draw attention. Unfortunately, they are currently out of stock, so keep checking the LaCie website for any updates if you are interested.

“No no, that’s not what I’m talking about. What worries me is that it’s reflecting everything but us. I hate to be the one non-scientist who picks this up guys.”
Haha – clever!
Great observation Andrew! At least they were thinking ahead about the reflection. Not like this guy: http://www.snopes.com/photos/risque/kettle.asp
Actually it reminded me of a line from one of my favorite books (not so great a movie) Sphere by Michael Crichton
