  1. Gadgeteer Comment Policy - Please read before commenting
  2. Huh. Must not be a popular item/gaw about which to comment? I think it would be cool to test one of these BICs…

Anyway, I’ve liked the site since before the Tapwave Zodiac 2 review, just fyi – but if I had a nitpick – I think it would be neat to incorporate – either across the top or along a side, sections or tabs or just quicklinks to categories or tags like the news, deals of the day, reviews, or types of gadgets (popular or not), like the writing instruments or cellphones or tablets, etc.

Anyway, thanks for this opportunity. 🙂

  3. I really don’t have an criticisms. Maybe the site design seems a little dated and the number or categories makes it difficult sometimes to pin point exactly what I’m looking for, but neither of those things are really detrimental to my experience. Cool pen btw, keep up the good work!

  4. Sometimes I find it hard to find previous posts through the search window. I’m not sure how this could be improved. Eventually I stumble upon the correct search term/tag.

  5. Long time fan of the site. You were my sherpa during my transition from Palm to Handspring to iPhone to Android. Glad your health is well and keep up the good work.

  6. I know that the ads support the site and there’s only one type I find annoying: the ones that overlay the bottom of review-related photos, since they frequently obscure some element of the item being illustrated. I’d be happier if the ad could land just above or below the review photo.

  7. Love that you eliminated the Twitter share in contests…I use Twitter, but not like I check the page…

Have been visiting and using your reviews since my Palm 1000 days…keep up the great work!!!

  8. Love the site, pool it in my RSS reader all the time!

The only comment that I have is that some of the design/navigation is confusing/dated… The site could use a bit of a navigation overhaul to make it easier to find and read older/past reviews/features.

  9. I love this site and drink my morning coffee reading it. Now for the criticism, and it is minor.

#1. I wish you would not do so many Apple (iPhone) product reviews. I understand you have the product, however I have Android. The thing that bothers me is I will see 2 or more Apple product reviews, or stuff for iPhones or iPads, in one daily email and nothing that I use.

#2. I have a slightly hard time finding older reviews of things. Maybe an easier to find contents list.

Other than that, I LOVE this site and I wouldn’t know what to do if I could not drink the morning coffee reading the reviews of products. I have ordered a few products because of your reviews. They are so useful.

I would love to win a Stylus!

  10. I always look forward to new Gadgeteer posts. I especially enjoyed spotlighting what Gadgeteers carry & use. Would you entertain guest posts? Thanks for the great work and this contest!

  11. I go here for a quick read at coffee break time. Mostly like subjects and reviews, but there one or two times when your reviews are way off track. For example, I got some flashlights based on the review and they turned out to be pretty poorly made and unreliable.

  12. Hi All, love the site and read it daily, really like the EDC sections and have followed many a tip, love the reviews. Now to the criticism, site could be updated as it has been the same for a long time but I realize this is a time consuming process, slightly better site search function would also be great, other than thanks Julie and the team for a great gadget insight website, keep up the good work

  13. I usually like your reviews. But the Google search is not the best on most websites. I’m sure it’s easier to implement but a custom search feature could be more useful

  14. I love the Gadgeteer! I really have no suggestions.

I sure hope I win this. I would like to use it on my old HTC Vogue.

  15. I like the fact that you are attempting to better your website with contests like this that openly and honestly take in the opinions of the user(s).

Maybe making the the screen ‘full sized’ would serve to view the review better. I only have half of the with of my computer screen to view.

Also, I have to agree with Everett Harper – having an easier way to search archived reviews.

Everything else is awesome! I look forward to visiting here almost every day!

  16. I love the variety of gadgets on your site, and your deals of the day. I just started looking for a laptop for my son and already found some recent deals. As far as the not like (I hate to say hate), I agree with Chris, the search could use some improvement like sorting by date. THANKS!

  17. It’s hard to stay ahead of the crowd with Tech reporting, but The Gadgeteer has kept up their side of the deal for many years. Good on you. My side of the deal is to read it, which I do weekly.

  18. I read the Gadgeteer because it keeps me current and sometimes useful. The Gadgeteer has helped me find ways of improving communication and make toys accessible for my toddler with a severe disability. I also love that The Gadgeteer is practical and sensible, not merely swayed by the gadget glitz. I like that there’s an appreciation for the greens in my wallet- the Gadgeteer will comment on overpriced items and I appreciate that!
The cons? It’s sometimes hard to find what I’m looking for and the search functionality is mediocre. The ads-(I know they fund this great venture) but they can get annoying and sometimes look just like the articles.
Thanks for the opportunity to comment!

  19. I also think the site is a little dated but check the site at least two or three times a day as I enjoy the reviews and insights into products I might never know about.

  20. As already mentioned before by others, it’s hard to find previous reviews. Sometimes I know they exist but cannot find them anymore. And I know there are a lot of reviews 🙂
Outdated look? Maybe. But it is very easy to read and that’s the most important thing.

  21. Howdy, Gadgeteer!
I stumbled upon your site this morning following your review of the EiMIM X, Y, and Z Pen.

My only comment/suggestion for improving your site would be on the ‘Julie’s Favorite Gear’ page. I would have liked it if there were thumbnails of the items to scan for things that interest me. I did eventually click on all the links, and then click back to the Favorite Gear page, but that was a bit of a drag.

Count me as a new fan of your site and keep up the great work.

    Fred

  22. Love your website .. been reading it since my Palm days.
What I love about your site is how diverse the products you have introduced and reviewed.
What I feel you can do better is a perhaps a mobile-version website (didn’t you used to have this ?). Also, perhaps a standalone App which allows us to read your website on our smartphones.

Thanks for running this site … even if I don’t win anything 🙂

  23. I like how frequently the site is updated with new posts. Not so many that I can’t find where I left off or that it seems articles are rushed to publication, but a few new articles every day.

  24. This site has always been handy for me to check back on old reviews when I am making a decision to buy something and verify if item got a good review or not.

  25. I love the EDC series and the plethora of the items reviewed! I hate that there is not an iPad app. One improvement from a website layout would be the option to load more posts while scrolling down or a more button like on i09 or lifehacker instead of clicking the the Previous Entries button.

  26. I don’t like how the article takes up like a third of the website. To me the main article that I am reading should take over the majority of the webpage, the right side takes almost as much space as the article. And I think the borders on the sides are a bit too wide with not much going on within them.

  27. I still think you should warn people in the headline that a product is only a crowd sourcing project and doesn’t exist in reality.

  28. This is one of my main Web sites which I check frequently being a 3G (Genuine Gadgeteer Geek) fanatic – especially small little mechanical gadgets.

  29. I loved your grin on your Mini expose. I’d be grinning largely too. A dual purpose pen would make me grin too, but not as much as a blue mini…reminds me of my blue ’83 Civic that I called “Little Blue Meanie.” Ah, back to the site, I like the diversity in the reviews. The daily deals could use some mixing up…too many laptops.

  30. I love the site/email digest.

I love that your reviews have saved me from buying some products I think I would’ve been unhappy with.

I hate that your reviews have lengthened my wishlist beyond reasonable spending allowances.

My only real criticism is that your reviews are perhaps overly positive–I haven’t kept a tally, but my perception is that you *like* a lot of the items you review.

  31. I have learned so much with this website on gadgets. I love them. The squirrel shock device is on my purchase list now. Thanks

  32. What I love about your site is all of the new and interesting gadgets that you inform me about. I do not have time to search the net myself, so appreciate this aspect. I don’t really hate anything. To improve, I think it would be good to do some short videos of various products when applicable.

  33. Hi Julie,

I’ve been a fan of the site for a long while (ever since the Palm Pilot days). Over that time, I’d have to say the site hasn’t changed very much. For me, that’s a good thing, and I thank you for great reviews of interesting products. For others… you might be losing people to flashier sites.

One think I don’t like to see is “deal of the day” in the older article pages. If they aren’t available anymore, I don’t really want to see them. If others want a historical perspective, perhaps you can move that to a “past deals of the day” link.

    cheers,
    Ray

  34. I carry a pen all the time, so with this pen/stylus, the stylus would be readily available.

I have been following this site for years. The only thing that could be improved would be better organizing categories and fewer articles that seem more like product ads.

  35. I love The Gadgeteer and have followed it for almost as long as it has existed. I am so jealous that they get to play with all the new gadgets (being a fellow gadget person)! Their reviews of new stuff are essential in my buying process.

  36. I absolutely love the site. I am glad I found it several years ago and read it daily.
I have found numerous cool gadgets and have actually purchased several for myself and family members
    Keep up the good work
    thanks

  37. First of all, I LOVE BIC products. They write so well, it seems the pen glides over the paper. When I saw this Stylus a couple of days ago on this site I got really excited. First, because I am a stylus fan — I have been since my first cell phone, and there are some high quality stylus’ out there with an equally hefty pricetag and you never know what you are getting until it arrives. There is no risk in the BIC, it is a good pen and a stylus at a reasonable price.

I would love to win a BIC Stylus/Pen. I hope you will give my entry a serious consideration. Thanks for all the great offers you post on Gadgeteer. I never miss a post — afraid I might lose out on one of your good products.

    Thank you,
    Fran

  38. my homepage, cant go a day without seeing the new reviews. Love the site and the writers but the layout of the website could definitely use an upgrade

  39. I received the pen. Thanks. This is the best Bic I have ever used. The side button is very ergonomic, and the pen writes smoothly. The stylus is a hollow conductive rubber dome. It glides smoothly and accurately across my various touch screens. If I press down a bit harder, the metal rim gets close to the glass (makes me edgy) but it never touches.
