The Thunderstorm Handheld Home Theater case adds a new dimension of sound to the anemic speakers of the iPad 2 and iPad 3rd generation. Belkin‘s new case adds quite a bit of bulk and weight to the iPad, but it also adds a full-range speaker system and a powerful sound processor designed by Audifi to provide “acoustics and levels of sonic depth previously unachievable on your tablet”. The case has a built-in cover that folds into a triangular stand like Apple’s Smart Cover or like an Incase Origami Sleeve so you can find the perfect viewing angle for movie night. Belkin says the case is perfect for gaming, with an explosive bass response that you’ll feel. It’s got a 10-hour battery, so it’s ready when your iPad is ready. It’s available for pre-order from Belkin for $199.99.

If you use your iPad primarily to watch videos or listen to music, this looks really cool: protection, good sounding speakers (hopefully), and raising the display off the table a bit. Problem is the price is a little hard to swallow…
@HungAD It is expensive, but not so bad when you think how much it would cost to get a separate cover and speakers, and maybe a stand, too. And then, there’s the real possibility that the case won’t fit the next generation iPad, and your expensive purchase becomes obsolete. Heck – it’s already obsolete, because it apparently uses the 30-pin connector for the older iPads.
Oi.. you’re right, it IS already obsolete; I completely missed that it was only for the iPad 2/3.
