With the Scribble Press app and an iPad, kids can now create and share their own books. Using the app’s 50 story templates, over 500 drawing tools (markers, stamps, multitude of colors), book layout tool, stickers collection, and their own photos, kids write and illustrate stories. Books are private unless you elect to share them in the public gallery. (Books are vetted to be sure they’re kid-safe before they are added to the public gallery.) Soon, Scribble Press will add the option to have printed copies made of these books – great gifts for grandparents and parents! And for your peace of mind: “Scribble Press is a member of Moms with Apps, a collaborative group of family-friendly developers seeking to promote quality apps for kids and families.” The app is free. There’s no information yet about the cost of printed books.

It would be nice to see this kind of stuff for Android tablets.
