Striiv – The Pedometer that gives back while you get fit

striivThe Striiv pedometer is a very cool idea. It’s a pedometer not unlike the Fitbit which I just reviewed, as it counts your steps. But the comparison stops there because the Striiv has the potential to motivate you more than similar products. How? First of all, it’s a bit snazzier with the  large color touch screen LCD. That LCD comes in handy because your walking, running and stepping powers built in games. One game called MyLand takes your movements and uses them to build a world where the more you move, the more your enchanted island fills with exotic wildlife and plants. If games don’t inspire you, how about helping others? Through no additional cost to you (other than the purchase of the Striiv), your steps will donate clean water to children in South America or a polio vaccine to a child in India (with new charitable partners to be added over time). You can reserve your Striiv now for $99. That includes tax and shipping. The device will ship starting 10/15.

  2. I’m using it with some co-workers and we are loving it! LITTLE efforts bring rewards: 50 steps, 25 stairs, and you get energy points to grow things. Growing things gives you more $ points. It’s proving quickly addictive and quickly competitive. We’re walking through our homes, taking extra stairs, parking blocks away, just to get rewards and points. Really fun, I’m delighted!
