Unlike most backpacks, the Hemlock from Timbuk2 doesn’t have a zipper and/or flap closure at the top. The Hemlock backpack has a roll-top that expands to carry a couple of extra things or lets you compress your load by rolling it down tight. Other than a padded laptop compartment, the interior is one, big, undivided space so you can even put your bike gear in there. It’s made of lightweight Mission6 nylon, and it has contoured shoulder straps for comfort. The Timbuk2 Swing Around Access lets you remove your laptop from a side zipper without having to completely take the backpack off your back. The Hemlock Backpack is available in small or medium sizes – you’ll need to check their fit guides to be sure your laptop will fit. Pre-made bags are available in three color choices for $90 or $100, respectively.
